THE Top 10 Sports Movies

After careful consideration, I narrowed down the Greatest Sports Movies to 10…certainly not an easy feat.  I definitely had to leave out some greats, but here’s what I ended up with:

10) Rookie of The Year

This kid lived the absolute dream playing in the MLB at the age of 10! To this day, I still have nightmares about that one hitter that looks like a combo of the Randy “Macho Man” Savage and Kenny Powers.

9) The Replacements

Shane Falco is one of the most famous quarterbacks to never play the game.  Incredible flow, toughness, and one hell of a leader.  Plenty of laughs in this one, but still some inspirational scenes to keep you on your toes.

8) Miracle

Who doesn’t love this story? Well, probably Russia, but this should be on TV every National holiday if you ask me.  One of those movies where you know the outcome but you’re still praying for the win.

“If we play ’em 10 times, they might win nine. But NOT this game” –Herb Brooks

7) Space Jam

If you haven’t watched Space Jam at least 7 dozen times then you haven’t lived.

6) Happy Gilmore

HAPPY GILMORE, Bob Barker, Adam Sandler, 1996, (c) Universal/courtesy Everett Collection FILM STILL

So many amazing quotes came out of this one.  Hands down, Sandler’s best work.  Still considering a name change to Lafferty, Daniel.

5) The Blind Side

blind side

Almost/definitely shed a tear.  Based on a true story and instantly became a Michael Oher fan.

4) The Sandlot

“You’re killing me Smalls!!” will forever be one of the best movie quotes of all time.  One of those flicks you can watch 100 times and still not get bored of.

3) Mighty Ducks 2

Without a doubt the best out of the trilogy. I’ve never cheered against a team (Iceland) harder in my entire life. QUACK, QUACK, QUACK

2) Moneyball

Loved the book, and surprisingly loved the movie even more (shout out to Jonah and Brad).  For anyone that loves sports this is an absolutely fascinating story.

1) Remember The Titans

remember the titans

Look up “inspirational” in the dictionary and there should be the Remember the Titans movie poster.  Gary Bertier will forever be the real MVP.  Such a great story on so many levels, easily number one on my list.
