With all eyes focused on the NFL Sunday, these recommendations will feature plays in the DraftKings 5pm game slate.
Russell Westbrook – OKC vs BOS – $12,200 – Despite a weak first quarter, Westbrook still managed his best fantasy output in his last seven games with an amazing 21-17-11 triple double with two three pointers and three steals. Just imagine if his shot was falling and he had done better than 8 for 22 field goals. There is no reason to be the gamer without Westbrook on Sunday.
Reggie Jackson – DET at LAL – $7,600 – While this is a back-to-back for Detroit, they did play the early afternoon game on Saturday against the Clippers so they will at least be in the same hotel and reasonably rested…if they didn’t have too much fun Saturday night in LA. The Lakers have been below league average against point guards once again and Jackson is a fine option on Sunday.
Cory Joseph – TOR at SAC – $3,800 – This is a nice spot to look at the discounted Cory Joseph who has been solid this month averaging 25.5mpg and 20.6 DraftKings points per outing, which is nearly a 6x return on his current price tag.
DeMar DeRozan – TOR at SAC – $7,100 – Over the last three seasons, the Sacramento Kings have been the worst team against opposing shooting guards from a fantasy perspective. Not much has changed this season and this is an nice tournament play as Double D tends to be a bit of a boom/bust option.
C.J. McCollum – POR at CHA – $6,500 – Though he has slowed a bit, McCollum is still a fantasy darling as he has averaged 21.4pg, 4.0rpg and 2.6apg on his way to a robust 32.3 fantasy point games as a starter with Portland this season. He should continue to see his shot attempts in the high-teens and is a fine option in all formats on the five game late Sunday slate.
Jeremy Lamb – CHA vs POR – $4,400 – It seems that Lamb just needed an organization to believe in him. His recently signed contract should continue to boost his confidence and he has been solid with a 26 DraftKings points per game over his last three outings. His discounted price will allow you to be flexible with other positions of need.
Nicolas Batum – CHA vs POR – $6,600 – Batum will be welcoming his old team to Charlotte and now that he is healthy…and so many Hornets out of action, he has been an excellent source of fantasy production with 23ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.0apg and nearly two combined blocks and steals over his last three games. He won’t be lacking for motivation in this matchup and he should be able to flirt with the forty fantasy point plateau.
Marcus Morris – DET at LAL – $6,500 – Morris has been a revelation with the Pistons and this is a fantastic matchup for him against the Lakers. I have no issues with working both him and Batum in on the same lineups Sunday, which is a rare thing to say about the small forward position.
Al-Farouq Aminu – POR at CHA – $5,900 – AFA has been an outstanding addition to the Trail Blazers as they have turned over their entire starting lineup save for PG Damian Lillard. The sneaky thing about Aminu is that he actually has decent touch from long range and he is averaging just shy of two three-pointers per contest, which earns extra points via the DraftKings scoring system.
DeMarcus Cousins – SAC vs TOR – $10,200 – Toronto has been a top five team this season against opposing power forwards and last year they were in the upper third of the league. That said, Boogie is one of the best in the game and worth having on a couple lineups Sunday.
Derrick Favors – UTA at ATL – $7,300 – After Favors “burned” most of the fantasy world on Friday the 13th with just 19 minutes and 22.3 fantasy points, there is a good chance that the “never again” crowd will be looking elsewhere in this presumed tough matchup. The Hawks have been in the bottom 10 this season against power forwards from a fantasy perspective, making Favors a fine tournament play.
Ed Davis – POR at CHA – $4,300 – Davis has been steady, though not spectacular this season, however, with PF Meyers Leonard out for the next month, he should see more minutes and opportunities. He is a safe play and should be able to produce 25ish fantasy points in this matchup against Charlotte on Sunday.
Andre Drummond – DET at LAL – $9,700 – AD is averaging just short of a 20/20 this season and he should be able to feast on the low block against the weak Lakers frontcourt. Pairing him with DeMarcus Cousins is an excellent tournament play and while we won’t be the only ones doing just that…I pity those that choose a different path.
Al Jefferson – CHA vs POR – $5,900 – How the mighty have fallen down the ranks. Portland doesn’t have an answer for Big Al Jefferson and if there is ever a game for him to reach back and put up a monster performance, this is the perfect situation.
Kelly Olynyk – BOS at OKC – $3,900 – Strictly a tournament play, Olynyk does have better than a point per minute fantasy upside and this pick is so crazy, that it just might work!
