WATCH: MATCHUPS TO WATCH – JULIUS RANDLE
The NBA rolls on tonight with a tight four-game slate, with three of the games sporting very high game totals, rich with fantasy goodness. Here are your studs and values to help you build your lineups. If you have any questions, reach out to me on Twitter @JasonWalkerDFS.
Giannis Antetokounmpo – MIL vs. NOP – $9,700 – Four games tonight so I want exposure to the top ceilings on the slate, like the multi-functional Giannis. Playing the Pelicans makes it a smaller pace-up game for him tonight as well.
Emmanuel Mudiay – DEN vs. GS – $6,200 – The highest game total of the night is in Denver, where the Warriors come into the Mile High City on the back end of a back-to-back, which always favors the Nuggets. A 220 game total with a mild 6.5 point favorite for the Warriors means that Mudiay and his mid-20s raw usage should be very busy tonight.
Other Options – D’Angelo Russell ($6,400), Stephen Curry – GS at DEN – $9,000
Isaiah Canaan – CHI at MIA – $3,000- To get to the top of the salary chain tonight you’ll need some min salary plays. Canaan is coming off the bench, but the Bulls are in the back end of a back-to-back themselves and are on the road. This means that Canaan might get more minutes, which would make it easier to get to 22-25 DK points tonight.
Jordan Clarkson – LAL at SAC – $5,000 – Clarkson has a 24% raw usage rate and has the most points per touch of any PG eligible player on the slate, making him an interesting play off the bench here for the Lakers.
Other Options – Tyler Johnson ($4,900), Matthew Dellavedova ($4,500)
Dwyane Wade – CHI at MIA – $6,500 – Wade, in a Miami homecoming, should be going all-out, even on a back end of a back-to-back. Wade’s usage has been around 26% raw, and has been well over a fantasy point per minute this season.
Jimmy Butler – CHI at MIA – $7,100 – I think he’ll take a slight back seat to Wade tonight, but Butler has been the scoring leader on the team as well as touches per game, making him a decent option on a short slate in my opinion.
Other Options – Klay Thompson ($6,200)
Lou Williams – LAL at SAC – $5,100 – Almost game result independent, Williams has a super-high 27% raw usage on the season and has averaged over 30 DKPPG over his last five games.
Gary Harris – DEN vs. GS – $4,600 – Harris is back to getting 30 minutes after recovering from injury and now gets a pace-up game with the Warriors with that very high 220 projected point total.
Other Options – Nick Young ($4,500), E’Twaun Moore ($4,100)
Kevin Durant – GS at DEN – $9,400 – He scores nearly a half a fantasy point every time he touches the ball. Durant is still well under $10K and makes for a huge upside play here against the Gallinari defense in Denver.
Rudy Gay – SAC vs. LAL – $7,300 – Under Dave Joerger, Gay has increased his usage with DeMarcus Cousins on the court with him, having a 26.4% raw usage for the season. At $7.3K, I can see Gay hitting value tonight if his raw usage rate holds true against the Lakers.
Other Options – Danilo Gallinari ($6,100)
Jabari Parker – MIL vs. NOP – $5,900 – Parker’s shot volume has been excellent, with 16, 14, 17, 14 and 16 over his last five games. Against the Pelicans earlier this season, he scored 21 real points in New Orleans.
Justise Winslow – MIA vs. CHI – $5,400 – Winslow averages 67 touches per game, meaning he is constantly in the flow of the Heat offense this season. His 21.7% raw usage indicates the same, and he has averaged 15 shot attempts per game over his last five games.
Other Options – Matt Barnes ($3,900), Luol Deng ($4,000)
Anthony Davis – NOP at MIL – $11,300 – Last time out against these Bucks, he scored 69.75 DK points, as he grabbed 15 rebounds and shot 18 free throws. Shouldn’t be too different this time against the same Monroe/Parker frontline he faced in New Orleans. Davis is averaging nearly 80 touches per game and has a 30% raw usage this season.
Draymond Green – GS at DEN – $7,800 – Dray is averaging 1.24 DK points per minute, due to the fact that he and Durant are the only two real rebounders on the court for the Warriors, and Green averages almost as many touches as Anthony Davis.
Other Options – Julius Randle ($6,800)
Nikola Jokic – DEN vs. GS – $5,500 – The Warriors will probably go small, which might make Jokic the center if they come off of Jusuf Nurkic due to a more up tempo game. Jokic is scoring nearly 1.2 DK points per minute, and if he gets more minutes at the expense of Nurkic, I think a 40 point ceiling is in play.
Mirza Teletovic -MIL at NO – $3,000 – Another min priced option, Teletovic has seen 20+ minutes the last two times on the court, scoring 29 and 17.5 DK points, more than enough for his $3K price tag.
Other Options – Kenneth Faried ($4,800)
DeMarcus Cousins – SAC vs. LAL – $10,300 – While Gay has had more usage, Cousins has been fine in that category as well, with 32.6% raw usage this season. His 1.5 DK points per minute is tremendous, and nobody on the Lakers can body up to him and match his quickness.
Hassan Whiteside – MIA vs. CHI – $8,500 – Whiteside gets half the touches that Cousins or Davis gets, but he’s still able to produce 1.30 DK points per minute. Fouls are always a concern but the Robin Lopez matchup tonight doesn’t breed that same kind of anxiety that Whiteside will miss time.
Other Options – Jusuf Nurkic ($6,000)
Greg Monroe – MIL vs. NOP – $5,800 – Monroe scored 30 DK points in 18 minutes in the last matchup with the Pelicans and may be asked to do more this time around at home. For his involvement in the offense, his price is definitely in the value range.
Willie Cauley-Stein – SAC vs. LAL – $3,000 – the Lakers could decide to go smaller and take Timofey Mozgov off the court, meaning the Kings could match and get Cauley-Stein more run. In the last two games, Cauley-Stein has averaged over a DK point per minute.
