We have a generous ten game slate, courtesy of The Association as they are celebrating the end of the NFL season in style. DraftKings is providing five different game slates from all-day and several turbo slates. Since most of the prize pools will include the games tipping off at 6:00pm or later, that is what we will be focusing on with the Sunday Funday recommendations, with a couple early picks sprinkled in too.
Russell Westbrook – OKC vs CLE – $11,000 – (EARLY) Ideally this price point will keep his popularity somewhat in check, however, with Westbrook projecting as the highest scoring option among all the available players on Sunday by nearly 20%, who really knows what will transpire. The key as always will be to find enough cheapies to facilitate the stars and scrubs lineup build that will be the most likely path to rostering Westbrook.
Cleveland has been a middle of the road team against opposing point guards, however, since the change in coaching regimes so Tyronn Lue and his up-tempo offense, they are allowing the seventh most fantasy points to the position.
Damian Lillard – POR vs UTA – $9,600 – Lillard is a fine alternate if spending up at the point guard position is in the cards for your roster construction preference on Sunday. He will be hard pressed to come close to his magnificent showing against Golden State on Friday when he shot 18 of 28 from the field with nine three-pointers on his way to 51 NBA points and 78.0 DraftKings points. In four of his last five games he has tallied 50+ fantasy points and in the two previous meetings with Utah this season he is averaging 28.0ppg, 5.5rpg, .5apg and 2.0 combined blocks/steals along with 4.5 three-pointers. He should be in the mix for a 50 fantasy point showing tonight.
Cory Joseph – TOR vs MEM – $4,100 – Over his last ten games, Joseph has accrued 20+ DraftKings points in eight of them. Which provides him a solid baseline and he should be able to achieve a 5x return on today’s reasonable price point, with a little upside still available if things go his way against the new look Grizzlies who have lost three of their regular starters to trades or injury in the last ten days.
Nicolas Batum – CHA at BKN – $7,300 – With Michael Kidd-Gilchrist out for the rest of the season and recent acquisition SG Courtney Lee slated to be worked into the lineup, Batum will see most of his time at the small forward position. That is a bonus for us since the Brooklyn Nets have had their struggles with defending that position and are allowing the third most fantasy points over the last three weeks and the seventh most on the season. I still prefer Batum for tournaments as evidenced by the volatility in his game log.
C.J. McCollum – POR vs UTA – $7,000 – The Utah Jazz have been solid against opposing shooting guards this season, however, Portland is a non-traditional offense with nearly half of the offense being generated by Damian Lillard and McCollum via scoring or assists. In three games against the Jazz this season, McCollum has posted 34.3 and 30.3 DraftKings points with Lillard in the lineup and 52.3 in the contest while Lillard was out with his injury. Most gamers are going to look at this opponent matchup and move on, I will not be one of them.
Gary Harris – DEN vs BOS – $4,500 – (EARLY) In the all-day and early only games, I like both Gary Harris and teammate Will Barton – $5,700 as options against the Celtics. Most likely we will see Avery Bradley guarding Emmanuel Mudiay, which will put the diminutive Isaiah Thomas up against the Nuggets shooting guards. Enjoy!
LeBron James – CLE at OKC – $9,700 – In the last two games leading up to the All-Star Break and Friday’s game against Chicago, LeBron is averaging just over 55 DraftKings points per contest. In the last matchup in mid-December between these two teams King James had a royal performance with 64.8 DraftKings points (Kyrie Irving was injured). Kevin Durant is not a lockdown defender and James is positioned to be one of the highest scoring players on the day.
Chandler Parsons – DAL vs PHI – $6,400 – The yelling match with Zaza Pachulia shouldn’t affect Parsons’ performance Sunday against the 76ers. This matchup suits his skillset well and we should see him raining down three-pointers (which are worth a half point bonus on DraftKings).
Matt Barnes – MEM at TOR – $5,000 – With Jeff Green and Courtney Lee traded away at the deadline, Barnes should be secure with 30-32 rotation minutes and double digit shot attempts. In the 14 games where he has taken 10+ field goal attempts, he is averaging 29 DraftKings points per game. That is a nice return on investment and he is a fine play in all formats.
Derrick Favors – UTA at POR – $7,200 – Plain and simple, the Trail Blazers just do not have an answer for Derrick Favors who should be able to flirt with the forty fantasy point plateau.
Anthony Davis – NO at DET – $9,700 – (EARLY) Yes, we have all suffered through the in-game injury at some point this season, however, in his las three games against the Pistons, The Brow has had 49.3, 81.3 and 52.0 DraftKings points. Just wanted to point that out…
Jon Leuer – PHO vs SA – $4,400 (EARLY) – With Markieff Morris traded to the Washington Wizards in a deadline deal, Leuer actually got the start on Friday and he responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and a steal in 30.5 minutes against the Houston Rockets. Especially impressive since he had not made it off the bench in the previous four games. Currently Alex Len, Tyson Chandler and new acquisition DeJuan Blair are all listed as questionable and if any of them are out, it just further cements Leuer’s minutes.
Andre Drummond – DET vs NO – $8,000 – (EARLY) In three of his last four games against the Pelicans, Drummond has exceeded 50 DraftKings points. There are worse ways to spend $8,000 today.
Pau Gasol – CHI vs LAL – $8,500 – Boom Boom Pau should have a field day in this matchup against his former team in what will likely be his last time sharing the court with Kobe Bryant. In Los Angeles three weeks ago, Gasol had 21 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, a block and a steal for 50.5 DraftKings points. With Jimmy Butler out, he will be carrying the offense and a similar line would not be a shocker on Sunday evening.
Jared Sullinger – BOS at DEN – $5,700 – EARLY Over his last three meetings against the Nuggets, Sullinger is averaging just shy of a double double and he should be in a position to approach that benchmark once more on Sunday.
