We have a small four-game Tuesday slate with some interesting options. Let’s jump right into players to target tonight.
Goran Dragic ($7,100) – Note: Dragic is questionable tonight, so be sure to check his status before game time. However, if he plays, Dragic has topped 40 fantasy points four times in the last eight games and has scored fewer than 30 fantasy points just once during that stretch. He faces off against Oklahoma City, a team that has allowed 1.84 points above expectation to point guards and is yielding the seventh most fantasy points per game to the position. The Thunder also play at a fast pace which should create some extra opportunities. As good as Westbrook is offensively, he does not get back and play tough defense, putting Dragic in a favorable situation if he plays.
Other Options – Russell Westbrook $12,500, Isaiah Thomas $7,900
D’Angelo Russell ($5,100) – This is not the most ideal matchup, but on a night with just four games on tap, we cannot be too picky. I think Russell is underpriced and is back to playing heavy minutes for the Lakers. He has played at least 30 minutes in three straight games and is averaging 28.6 fantasy points per game during that stretch. In fact, over his last five games, he has averaged 29.9 fantasy points per game and has topped 30 fantasy points three times during that timeframe. He has faced the Jazz once this season and scored 25.3 fantasy points in that matchup, which would be good enough to pay off his current salary.
Other Options – Tyler Johnson $5,000
James Harden ($11,400) – Tonight, you are either paying up for Harden or looking for value. There is not much I need to say about Harden other than he is an absolute beast. He has topped 50 fantasy points in 10 straight games. Matchups typically do not matter for players of his caliber, but if you are having any concerns regarding this matchup, Harden is averaging 51.1 fantasy points per game against the Mavs in three games this season.
Wesley Matthews ($5,400) – Matthews gets a good matchup tonight against a team he has fared well against this season. The last time he played against the Rockets, he had 37.25 fantasy points. Houston is giving up the second most fantasy points per game and the third most three-pointers per game to opposing shooting guards. Matthews’ shot has been off as of late, but this is a good spot to get it back on track. At this price, Matthews can certainly smash value.
Other Options – Avery Bradley $5,900, Eric Gordon $5,500, Lou Williams $4,900
Gordon Hayward ($8,000) – Hayward is the most expensive small forward on the slate but he is arguably the best option. He has topped 40 fantasy points in six of his last 10 games and gets a good matchup tonight. The Lakers are yielding the most fantasy points per game to opposing small forwards and rank second worst in defensive efficiency. In his one game against the Lakers this season, Hayward scored 23 points, grabbed six boards, dished out five dimes and finished with 42.5 fantasy points. A similar outcome in tonight’s contest is not out of the question.
Luol Deng ($5,000) – Deng is averaging 33.4 minutes, 12.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, 1.0 steals and 32.1 fantasy points per game over his last five games. He has filled in for Larry Nance Jr. and has been very productive. Although the matchup is not great, the opportunity is there for Deng, and he comes at a reasonable price.
Other Options – Justise Winslow $5,300, Trevor Ariza $5,200
JaMychal Green ($4,400) – Green has struggled recently, but he is still averaging 29.6 minutes in his last five outings. Tonight he has a good matchup against an undersized Boston front court. The Celtics have allowed 2.91 points above expectation to opposing power forwards and are yielding the sixth most fantasy points per game to the position. In their last meeting, Green scored seven points and grabbed 12 rebounds, which was good for 27 fantasy points. He has 30+ fantasy point upside and is very reasonably priced, making him a nice value play on this slate.
Other Options – Harrison Barnes $6,300, Julius Randle $5,800
Rudy Gobert ($7,700) – Gobert has a great matchup tonight against the Lakers who have allowed 4.88 points above expectation to opposing centers. They are also yielding the fifth most fantasy points per game to the position. Gobert is averaging 15 rebounds per game against the Lakers this year, as well as 44.8 fantasy points. He should dominate them once again in this contest.
Other Options – Hassan Whiteside $8,700, Marc Gasol $7,200
Enes Kanter ($4,900) – Kanter has topped 30 fantasy points in three straight games and remains very cheap. The Heat are giving up the seventh most fantasy points per game to centers and have allowed 3.56 points above expectation to the position. So long as the minutes remain secure for Kanter, he should have no trouble smashing value.
Other Options – Steve Adams $5,100
Note: Keep a close eye on news prior to lock as this could open up some value plays that were not considered early in the day.
