Today’s NBA Targets looks at a 3-game NBA playoff slate. We will have a look at the studs, sleepers, and mid-range players you want to have rotating in your lineups.
Wednesday’s Playoff Contests
POINT GUARD TARGETS
Chris Paul vs. SA ($9,900) – I know the price tag isn’t great, but Paul is worth every dollar of his $9.9K salary. I don’t think I need to pitch you on his services, just lock him in if you’re going for the pure superstar PG stud option.
Damian Lillard @ MEM ($7,600) – Lillard’s price is sort of a value based upon his seasonal 38.7 FPPG average; however, there’s risk assigned to Lillard based on his inconsistent production over towards the end of the season. I like Lillard, but he’s not a must-have option.
C.J. McCollum @ MEM ($4,300) – If Mike Conley gave a bit more from a DFS perspective, I’d have him here… so that leaves me with McCollum. I suggest him just based on the total amount of minutes I expect. McCollum will get better on offense.
Beno Udrih vs. POR ($4,000) – Okay, so maybe Udrih doesn’t get another 24 minutes like he did in Game 1. Maybe he doesn’t nab almost 40 fantasy points. But, you know what? I don’t care. The $4 K price is attractive enough to take a chance Udrih will get the minutes again.
SHOOTING GUARD TARGETS
Joe Johnson @ ATL ($5,900) – I dig Johnson’s 16th OPRK against Atlanta, although it’s certainly not Disney-like. It doesn’t make that happy. Still, the sub-$6K price and with no legitimate stud options at the SG slot, Johnson is an outstanding risk in the playoffs.
Kyle Korver vs. BKN ($5,400) – Don’t go with Manu Ginobili, if that’s what you’re thinking. Manu gave the ever-so-wise DFS owners that chose him on Sunday 32.25 fantasy points in ONLY 19 minutes! I haven’t looked into the numbers, but that just might be a record on DraftKings. Is there any other player that gave more points-per-minute played? Hmm. It ain’t gonna happen again – guaranteed. That’s why you lock-in with Korver. He gets the minutes and he shoots from downtown with his 3-point ability. For this price, be happy with a 30-point fantasy night from Korver.
SMALL FORWARD TARGETS
Kawhi Leonard @ LAC ($8,600) – Leonard is the only stud option on Wednesday, but he gets a Nike-endorsement from me. Like, yeah, if I could sign players up and pay them whatever they wanted to represent ME, Leonard would get “Nike” money. Leonard is consistent, he’s averaging 35.5 FPPG and he’s the best option on the Spurs normally. Oh, and he nets a 29th OPRK matchup. Boom!
DeMarre Carroll vs. BKN ($6,200) – The price is okay on Carroll, so I’m not exactly bouncing off walls here, but he’s a pretty solid play under the $7K mark. The best thing about Carroll in Game 1 is that he got the minutes, even exceeding his 31.2 MPG mark.
POWER FORWARD TARGETS
Blake Griffin vs. SA ($9,700) – I don’t mind paying $9.7K for Griffin’s services, and you shouldn’t either. Griffin is another player I don’t really have to convince to roster, so it’s really all about you being able to mix in his salary with other corresponding players. Just in case you missed it? Griffin pulled down 12 rebounds, dished 6 assists, all while notching 3 steals and sinking 26 points.
LaMarcus Aldridge @ MEM ($9,100) – Aldridge is the better value compared to Griffin, affording the same fantasy point structure at a lessor price. If choosing between the two? Tough, but give me Aldridge with the $600 reduction.
Tim Duncan @ LAC ($7,700) -With no value-options that I like enough to suggest, I’m running with a third stud-player for you. Why did the Spurs rest Duncan all those regular season games? For the playoffs. It’s time for Duncan to shine, and if you’re looking for a good value without having to pay pimp-daddy prices… here you go.
DeAndre Jordan vs. SA ($8,400) – If you go with Jordan, feel safe in knowing that he’s not going to lay an egg. His rebounding keeps DFS owners in the game, although I like him to do a bit more than he did last game out facing the Spurs. Don’t be surprised to see a 40-plus fantasy night.
Mark Gasol vs. POR ($7,900) – Gasol is the best value at center on Wednesday, heating up at the perfect time. There aren’t many players I consider values at around $8K, but Gasol qualifies. If choosing between Gasol or Jordan? Gimme Gasol.
Brook Lopez @ ATL ($7,800) – Lopez is one of very few options that the Nets have to score fantasy points for DFS owners, and I absolutely love the way he’s brought himself back into the realm of a stud-level player. The price is right, although I still like Gasol better.
Meyers Leonard @ MEM ($3,600) – Leonard is the only C value I like on Wednesday, mainly since he’s getting the opportunity. And, the reason for that? He filled in getting minutes while LaMarcus Aldridge was ailing towards the end of the season. Leonard won’t get a ton of minutes, but if you’re going Studs-and-Duds? Leonard is your huckleberry.
