The NBA Game Breakdown takes an in-depth look at all of the games on the schedule each day in terms of expected pace of play, Vegas lines and defense vs. position matchups.
CLIPPERS AT HEAT
This should be a very competitive game on Thursday with the Heat (6-5) being one of the better defensive units out there right now when it comes to points allowed per game. I don’t see this one landing over the 200 mark total, although superstar Chris Paul, who is one of only two point guards (John Wall is the other) in the top-10 in double doubles, will have a big impact on the game for the Clippers (5-4) . Paul is currently averaging 44.8 FPPG for DraftKings owners and he’s easily top of the point guard class today. An interesting stat on Paul: he leads the league in touches per game with 105.3. You know good things are bound to happen when the ball is in Paul’s hands that much, so the Heat will need to shut him down if they expect to pull this game out. Expect a feisty game.
Players to Watch
- Chris Paul, PG, Clippers ($9,600)
- DeAndre Jordan, C, Clippers ($7,800)
- Mario Chalmers, PG, Heat ($5,800)
- Shawne Williams, SF, Heat ($4,800)
BULLS AT KINGS
The Bulls (8-3) are really starting to come into their own as one of the more dominant clubs in the NBA this season as they are 6-0 on the road. The Kings (6-5) won’t be a pushover for the Bulls, not with the way they’ve played this season in what looks to be a very competitive Western Conference. Rudy Gay is back from an Achilles injury, so his presence alone boosts the Kings chances of pushing the Bulls. Plus, the Kings will need a big night from their back court, okay, Darren Collison, as DeMarcus Cousins and Gay won’t be able to handle all the duties. I’m intrigued as to how Joakim Noah will handle Cousins on the night, considering Noah is one of the more physical players in the game. I see the Bulls edging the Kings by three points for their seventh road victory in 2014.
