The NBA Game Breakdown takes an in-depth look at all of the games on the schedule each day in terms of expected pace of play, Vegas lines and defense vs. position matchups.

SPURS AT 76ERS

Game Analysis

The 76ers (0-16) remain win-less on the young NBA season and I don’t see why things will change after the Spurs (12-4) meander into Philadelphia. In a game of complete mismatches, there are some excellent players to take advantage of assuming that the Spurs don’t rest some of their players after jumping out to a big lead. And, none of the players I recommend will be from the 76ers roster. The 76ers rank 30th in the NBA in points scored, while they bring up the rear in points allowed as the 27th ranked team. Expect a one-sided victory for the Spurs as long as they don’t take things too lightly. Funny, even with the lopsided matchup, I’m going to take the points and the 76ers betting the line at home in Philly. I’ve got the reserves coming into the game for the Spurs about mid-third quarter and on.

Line: SA -14.5

Players to Watch

  • Tim Duncan, C, Spurs ($8,600)
  • Kawhi Leonard, SF, Spurs ($7,500)
  • Boris Diaw, PF, Spurs ($5,000)
  • Manu Ginobili, SG, Spurs ($4,900)

HEAT AT WIZARDS

Game Analysis

This should be a pretty tight game overall with the Wizards (10-5) and the Heat (8-7) being fairly solid with matchups offensively and defensively. The Heat are looking to build some consistency, while it’s going to be tough with all the injuries they’ve suffered of late. Still, Chris Bosh is doing his part as he gels with other role players trying to step in for injured starters. The Wizards will key in on Bosh, undoubtedly, which will be the focus of the game if they expect to edge the Heat. I’m not listing John Wall in the “Players to Watch” section, mainly since he’s fairly matchup proof, but he’s a must-fill option if you want a stud PG to build your DFS lineup around.

Line: None

Players to Watch

  • Marcin Gortat, C, Wizards ($6,700)
  • Bradley Beal, SG, Wizards ($5,700)
  • Luol Deng, SF, Heat ($5,500)
  • Rasual Butler, SG, Wizards ($3,700)

NUGGETS AT JAZZ

Game Analysis

The Jazz (5-12) have now lost five games in a row and can’t seem to gain any consistent production from their players except from Gordon Hayward. Unfortunately for Hayward, his club gets behind early in games and they get put into situations where they must play catch-up, which sometimes leads to losses to teams that are also having their own losing issues. The Nuggets (8-8) are 7-3 over their last 10 games played, which has been a fantastic turnaround to their abysmal start. Wilson Chandler has been a huge reason why the Nuggets have turned things around, and while the Jazz are a better club than they’ve played to this point I do expect a win by the Nuggets. I’m taking Denver to cover the 2.5 points.

Line: DEN -2.5

Players to Watch

  • Ty Lawson, PG, Nuggets ($9,100)
  • Gordon Hayward, SF, Jazz ($8,100)
  • Derrick Favors, PF, Jazz ($7,300)
  • Kenneth Faried, PF, Nuggets ($5,800)

TIMBERWOLVES AT CLIPPERS

Game Analysis

We’ve got one more mismatch blowout game on Monday’s ticket, with the Clippers (11-5) as one of the better clubs in the NBA facing one of the worst in the Timberwolves (4-10). The Clippers have won four in a row, seven out of their last ten games played, with their team really getting into a groove with superstars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin sometimes embarrassing opponents. The Wolves are going to have a difficult time keeping up with the Clippers offense as they rank 25th in the league in rebounds, while allowing 110.4 points a game which puts them 29th in the league. Look for a blowout win by the Clippers, and expect them to cover the -14.0 line.

Line: LAC -14.0

Players to Watch

  • Blake Griffin, PF, Clippers ($9,800)
  • Gorgui Dieng, C, Timberwolves ($6,700)
  • Jamal Crawford, SG, Clippers ($5,600)
  • J.J. Redick, SG, Clippers ($4,100)
