Portland Trail Blazers @ Brooklyn Nets

Game Analysis

The Trail Blazers (50-26) travel to New York on Monday evening after locking down their first division title in seven years. They are playing extremely well of late, winning six of seven games, as they look to take care of the Nets (35-41) on the road, who are 8-2 over their last 10 games played. It’s a perfect time for the Nets to be playing this well, as they battle four other teams for two spots in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Nets do hold a slight advantage in this one, notwithstanding win-loss records, considering the Trail Blazers will be burning a coast-to-coast trip for just one game, a reschedule of a January 26 contest.

Over their last four home games, the Nets are shooting almost 50 percent and averaging almost 110 points per game, while getting huge support from Deron Williams and Brook Lopez. The Blazers have been netting inconsistent production from their superstar power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, although others have stepped up when necessary. Take note that Aldridge will NOT be playing on Monday, as he’s already been ruled out of action. I don’t see the Nets covering the -7.0 points the Blazers are being spotted, even with Aldridge ruled out, so the smart play is taking the Blazers and the points; however, look for both clubs to be on target enough that they exceed the 201 over/under. With Aldridge out of action, Lopez becomes a must-play option for me, even with his 6th OPRK against the Nets.

Line: BKN -7.0, Over/Under: 201
