Tricks, treats and quick hit facts to get you through a huge Halloween NBA weekend on DraftKings!
The Vegas Lines
Highest Scoring Games
Warriors vs. Pelicans – Well last night was interesting, nobody saw an overtime special happening in Orlando. I doubt we will be so luck tonight, but we do have some high scoring action. In a repeat from opening night we get Chef Curry vs. the Brow. The o/u of this one is 213.5 and it is looking like we could get to the over. The Brow doesn’t want to be embarrassed at home, so he should be looking for revenge and possibly post a big line.
Kings vs. Clippers- Don’t worry about the B2B here, this game will be full of fireworks. With the highest o/u of the night at 214, look for CP3 and company to fill up the basket. On the Kings side we should get more of the Boogie and Gay show. This game has the potential to produce a GPP winner for somebody.
Lowest Scoring Games
Jazz vs. Pacers – No surprise here, the Jazz once again have one of the lowest o/u at 190. The Jazz are a slow playing team that have great bigs, Favors and Gobert. Favors had a field day with the 76ers last night and should be primed for another great performance. The interesting thing about this game will be to see if Monta Ellis finally gets his season going.
Pace of Play
Fastest Projected Games
Kings vs. Clippers – Guess who comes in at 2nd in the Hollinger rankings now, the…..Kings. Surprise, Surprise, the Kings are officially one of the fastest paced teams in the NBA. Bring in the Clippers and this game should be up and down the court all night. Looks like George Karl finally wants to speed things up.
Slowest Projected Games
Jazz vs. Pacers – If you read the sheet on Thursday you would have saw the Pacers as the highest ranked pace team in the Hollinger ratings. Guess what, just like predicted this is no longer the case. The Jazz are ranked last with the slowest pace in the NBA and the Pacers are now 15th. This game will be slow ball at its finest.
Defense vs. Position
Best PG Matchups
Steph Curry vs. Jrue Holiday/Ish Smith – Steph just blasted the Pelican’s with 60+ DK FPs. I look for the trend to continue tonight. Klay Thompson had to leave the game early last night due to a back issue and still may be slowed tonight. If this is the case, fire up the Chef Curry show and watch him light up the night on Bourbon Street.
Worst PG Matchups
Rajon Rondo vs. CP3 – Any opposing PG doesn’t want to draw a matchup against CP3. I know this is an issue of preference, but I feel like CP3 is the best defending PG in the league. Rondo’s days of glory are over and he is being pushed for minutes by Collison. He will get all he can handle with CP3 tonight.
Best SG Matchups
Eric Bledsoe vs. CJ McCollum – Bledsoe was back to regular form last night and should be again. I like both SGs in this matchup on the offensive side of things, but DvP says that Bledsoe gets the best of CJ tonight. I love the pace the Suns play and the two guard set up.
Worst SG Matchups
Klay Thompson vs. Eric Gordon – This one is simple, Klay has an injury concern and surprisingly EG hasn’t been terrible guarding opposing SGs this year.
Best SF Matchups
Gordon Hayward vs. Paul George – I love this matchup tonight and I am surprised that PG is giving up as many FPs as he is this year. Hayward has had a slow start, but this is the perfect matchup for him to get things rolling. At their price I like both of them in a SF shootout tonight.
Worst SF Matchups
Dante Cunningham vs.Harrison Barnes and Andre Iguodala – I know, Dante Cunningham isn’t one of the league’s elite SF’s anyway, but he does face two of the league’s best SF defenders tonight. I don’t like any part of this matchup tonight.
Best PF Matchups
Anthony Davis vs. Draymond Green – I don’t know if this matchup should say best or most interesting. Yes, we all know Draymond is a great defender, but we also know the Brow is a great scorer. I don’t care who you are, you aren’t stopping the Brow from getting his.
Worst PF Matchups
Thad Young vs. Zach Randolph- Thad doesn’t have anything for ZBo. This is a laughable matchup on paper, as ZBo and company are only giving up 15.1 points to PFs this season. I am staying away from this one.
Best C Matchups
Marcin Gortat vs. Robin Lopez – RoLo can’t defend Cs. The Knicks are the worst team against big men in the league. The Polish Hammer likes to get aggressive down low and has the potential to have his way with the Knicks tonight.
Worst C Matchups
Ian Mahinmi vs. Rudy Gobert – Gobert and the Jazz are the best at shutting down opposing Cs so far this season. The Jazz have only given up 16 pts and 11 rebounds to opposing Cs over the course of this season. Mahinmi usually has great value, but I am looking elsewhere tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Anthony Davis – I went back and forth between Curry and Brow tonight (and will have some lines with both), but ultimately landed on the Brow. For the Pelican’s to have a shot the Brow has to play lights out, he will also be motivated by being at home in front of his own crowd. He has a great chance to put up a double double tonight by playing big minutes with a high usage rate.
Save Big Bucks By Drafting
Festus Ezeli – Back to Uncle Festus on Halloween. Festus hit value last night with Andrew Bogut out and should have another strong showing at minimum price tonight. He has an excellent chance at reaching value again tonight.
Dud of the Night
Klay Thompson – Klay is questionable tonight, but reports are saying that he will suit up. He left last night’s game early with a back issue and probably won’t be at full speed tonight. I am staying away due to all of the external factors and see him as being one of the higher priced duds tonight.
