The Vegas Lines
Highest Scoring Games
Celtics vs. Rockets – This should come as no surprise, two of the fastest teams in the NBA have the highest posted point total. With an o/u of 207.5 I am loving the guards in this one. We also should get some Dwight Howard action as this is the front end of a back to back. I will take a little bit of everything from this one.
Lakers vs. Suns – I love nights that the Suns play. Suns games are always the first game I look at when starting my research due to their dual (point) guard setup. Tonight the Suns come in at the 2nd highest total, 206.5. The only issue I have with this game is the 11 point spread. This one could turn into blowout city.
Lowest Scoring Games
Pacers vs. Bulls – A typical Eastern Conference matchup that highlights the post players should be on display tonight. Unfortunately, this means that the score should be pretty low. With an o/u of 198, this game has the lowest point total of the night. Look for PG to amass a lot of those points for the Pacers.
Thunder vs. Grizzlies – The Grizz are a lot like the Jazz. When I see their name I know that the points total should be one of the lower on the slate. No surprise here as the o/u in this game is 198.5. Most of the Thunders offense will run through Westbrook and the Grizz should try to hammer the bigs.
Pace of Play
Fastest Projected Games
Celtics vs. Rockets – The highest points total on the night, usually means the fastest pace as well. The Rockets and Celtics are both ranked in the top 10 of the Hollinger Pace ratings. This will be the fastest game of the night and should see a lot of fast break points scored.
Lakers vs. Suns – The 2nd highest scoring game on the night also brings us two top 10 pace of play teams. The Suns are the fastest paced team on the night with a 103.9. The Lakers are only slightly lower at 101.3. If this game was predicted a little closer I would love a lot of exposure.
Slowest Projected Games
Pacers vs. Bulls – The Pacers are the 2nd slowest team on the night (only to the Griz). The Pacers will look to control the tempo of the game and this should bring down the Bulls overall pace. Now with George Hill out a lot of the offense will run through PG and Monta. The Bulls should have an easier time pressuring these two and keeping the pace at their level.
Defense vs. Position
Best PG Matchups
Damian Lillard vs. Tony Parker – The Spurs are ranked 26th against opposing PG’s. Lillard does have a finger injury to deal with, but he is one of his team’s only source of offense. This is a definite plus matchup.
Worst PG Matchups
Ty Lawson vs. Isaiah Thomas/Avery Bradley/Marcus Smart – Even though the matchup is against 3 guards, Lawson will have a tough time tonight. The Celtic guards are ranked number 1 against opposing guards.
Best SG Matchups
Courtney Lee vs. Andre Roberson – The Thunder are terrible against the SG position, giving up over 40 FPs per game. Jeff Green got the start for Courtney Lee last game and had a great performance. Either way, I like the matchup tonight.
Worst SG Matchups
C.J. McCollum vs. Danny Green – Pop has Green playing some shut down defense. Green is one of the top SG defenders in the league. CJ has been good this season, but he will have all he can handle tonight.
Best SF Matchups
Lakers SF vs. P.J. Tucker – Nick Young (listed at SG on DraftKings) should get the start tonight for a worn down Kobe Bryant. Tucker has been less than stellar this season, so whoever the starter is for the Lakers has a great chance at hitting value tonight.
Worst SF Matchups%
Robert Covington (or Philly Starter) vs. Chandler Parsons This matchup is totally dependent upon starters, but the Mavs have been great against opposing SF’s. Whoever gets minutes for the 76ers will have a tough time.
Best PF Matchups
Jared Sullinger vs. Terrence Jones – Some of this may be skewed due to the Rockets playing small ball. Sully has been coming along and has hit value the past couple of games. I like this matchup and think it has the potential to be a great one.
Worst PF Matchups
Trailblazers Starter vs. LaMarcus Aldridge – This has the makings for total domination. Vonleh or Davis….no thank you.
Best C Matchups
Tyson Chandler vs. Roy Hibbert – The Lakers can’t guard a big man, any big man. Chandler’s career has become rejuvenated by being in Phoenix. He has a great chance to hit value tonight.
Worst C Matchups
Enes Kanter vs. Marc Gasol – Marc Gasol is a great defender. Kanter can score, but is not the focal point of the offense. Gasol will look to shut him out tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
James Harden ($10,300) – I know, Westbrook is playing without KD, I just don’t like the matchup. The Boston game should be speedy and it will fit Harden’s style. I feel like he should have a big game tonight.
Save Big Bucks By Drafting
Nick Young ($3,500) – Young should get the spot start for Kobe Bryant tonight. This will give him a lot of minutes and a nice uptake in usage. At a bare minimum price he should be able to hit value tonight.
Dud of the Night
George Hill/Rodney Stuckey – The Pacers are all sitting out tonight. Hill and Stuckey are two of the main victims. Look for PG to get a lot of run tonight.
