Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Rockets vs. Bulls- Any game with James Harden usually means high scoring. With a total of 215 tonight this one should not only provide a lot of baskets, but also a lot of missed shots. For the Bulls it will be Rose and Gasol leading the charge. For the Rockets it’s all about The Beard baby!
LOW O/U – Pistons vs. Knicks- A game full of big men and an aging superstar means a this one will be a little slower. With a total of 198.5, this one is the lowest scoring on the night. I like Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson, as they will have a nice usage rate. On the Knicks side it is all Melo, all the time.
Pace of Play
|Away Team||Away Pace||Home Team||Home Pace||Avg Pace|
HIGH PACE – Pacers vs. Wizards – John Wall and Paul George means a fast paced battle. With a projected game pace of 101.5, this game will be guard heavy. I love Wall and George, but also think that Monta Ellis could make a sneaky GPP play on the night.
LOW PACE – Jazz vs. Pelicans- Don’t worry, I will never forget the Jazz. With a projected total of 94.1, this one will be slow. The matchup between Favors and Davis should be great, but the only two plays that really stick out are Rudy Gobert and Gordon Hayward. I reiterate…always play Cs versus the Pelicans.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Ricky Rubio vs. Donald Sloan- Rubio gets to face the decimated Nets tonight. He had a mediocre game last night, but will be looking to right the ship. I would say 30+ DraftKings Fantasy Points (DKFP) tonight.
AVOID – Jeff Teague vs. Chris Paul- Teague and Schroder have been splitting duties at the point. Paul is one of the best PG defenders in the league. I say look elsewhere, as this one could get ugly.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – James Harden vs. E’Twaun Moore- Usage and a falling defensive rating means get The Beard in your lineup. I am expecting a 50+ DKFP performance tonight.
AVOID – Marco Belinelli vs. Danny Green- The case of the Spurs says don’t play SGs or SFs against them. Green is ranked 1st against opposing SGs. There are obviously better options tonight.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Paul George vs. Otto Porter- Paul George went nuts last night against my Hornets. Tonight he gets another phenomenal matchup against the Wiz. The Wizards have ranked in the bottom tier against SFs all season and are giving up a lot of DK points to SFs. You want 40+ DK points tonight, barring injury you should get it!
AVOID – Rudy Gay/Omri Casspi vs. Kawhi Leonard- Gay was out the last game. If he suits up or if Casspi gets the green light, they will both get to face the number 1 ranked defender in the league in Kawhi Leonard. I’d stay away.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – LaMarcus Aldridge vs. DeMarcus Cousins- Matchups aside, usage rate and recent history plays a big role in this pick. I will have some lineups with both of these big men tonight, as I wouldn’t be surprised to see a scoring battle.
AVOID – Amir Johnson vs. Kevin Love/Tristan Thompson- We still need to monitor whether or not Love will give it a go, but this is still a negative matchup for Amir either way. The Cavs are ranked 2nd against opposing PFs and Amir will have a tough time getting to the rim tonight.
TARGET – Rudy Gobert vs. Kendrick Perkins- Ok, this should be a given now. But if you still aren’t playing Cs against New Orleans, you need to start now. Gobert could easily eclipse 40 DKFP against the 29th ranked Pelicans.
AVOID – Brook Lopez vs. Karl-Anthony Towns- BroLo has been very good all season. He faces the rook tonight that has worked his way up to a top 10 defensive rating. I think KAT locks him down, which makes me want to play Rudy Gobert even more.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
James Harden ($10,500)- The Beard gets to face a Butler-less Bulls team tonight and should dominate. If you are looking for a 50 burger, look no further than Harden.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
George Hill ($4,900) – This is an insane price for a starting PG. Hill started the season off with some nice fantasy games, then cooled off. However, tonight he has a great matchup against John Wall, who seems more interested in scoring than defending these days. I think Hill comes close to 30 DK points tonight.
Dud of the Night
Jared Sullinger ($6,000) – Sullinger will have an extreme usage rate tonight, but has a tough matchup. The Cavs have stayed in the top 5 against opposing Cs all season. I think Sully will have a hard time eclipsing the 30 point mark tonight.
Ty Lawson – Out, Terrence Jones – Out, Nikola Mirotic – Doubtful, Luc Mbah a Moute – Out
