Game Flow Notes

Vegas Lines

HIGH O/U Thunder vs. Clippers- I love watching elite PGs battle it out. Tonight we get Westbrook vs. Chris Paul in a matchup that is predicted to produce 220.5 total points. This one is an easy game to predict top fantasy scorers as both teams have a high usage for two players. The Thunder will rely heavily on KD and Westy who are both projected over 45 DK points. The Clippers will be all CP3 and Deandre as they try to squeak out a win against the fast paced Thunder.

LOW O/UJazz vs. Raptors- Honestly Jazz, this is getting a little monotonous. The total in this game is 194 and should be rebound heavy. The pace of this game depends heavily on the status of Kyle Lowry. If he plays we should see a nice number from him. If he doesn’t go we should see a lot of Demar Derozan. For the Jazz it will be the Favors and Gobert show as they are shaping up as a great 4, 5 punch in the league.

HIGH PACE Trail Blazers vs. Celtics – I won’t give credit to Brad Stevens, because well….I just won’t. But I will give credit to Isaiah Thomas in his quest to speed this team up. With a projected game pace of 101.2 this one is the fastest on the night. IT2 and Jared Sullinger are in great spots tonight as they get phenomenal matchups. For the Blazers it is and will forever be the Damian Lillard show, get him in your lineup.

LOW PACE Pistons vs. Spurs – This one isn’t the slowest on the night, but it is a close 2nd. With a projected game pace of 96 this one should be big man heavy. If I had to pick 2 plays from this one it would be chalk Drummond and Kawhi. Both players are set up for a good usage rate and a decent matchup, but I most likely will stay away.

Defense vs. Position

Point Guard Matchups

TARGETJohn Wall vs. Ricky Rubio – The Timberwolves are 22nd against opposing PGs. Rubio has definitely upped his defensive game this year, but Wall has been on a tear. Wall is projected at 45+ DK points tonight and put up a 60 spot in his last outing. I am all in on this Wizard tonight.

AVOIDShelvin Mack vs. Kyle Lowry – The Raptors are ranked 3rd against opposing PGs on the season. If Kyle Lowry is a go it will be even harder for Mack tonight. When Mack was priced in the 3K range I was all about him. Now his is $4,600 and about out of my price range.

Shooting Guard Matchups

TARGET James Harden vs. Eric Gordon – The Beard is back and in business. I have him projected at 50+ DK points tonight against a terrible Pelicans D. I love where he comes in at tonight.

AVOID Kentavious Caldwell-Pope vs. Danny Green- When you look toward the SF section you will probably see a similar tip. When a team plays the Spurs they lock down the SG or SF position. Green is ranked 1st against opposing SGs. I think he comes in slightly undervalued tonight.

Small Forward Matchups

TARGET Kevin Durant vs. Jeff Green – Tonight’s the night of the 50 DK point show. It will just be about picking the right guys. KD is projected at 50+ tonight and has a great matchup. Truthfully matchups don’t matter with KD as his usage will be insane on any given night.

AVOIDMarcus Morris vs. Kawhi Leonard- Leonard is ranked 1st against opposing SFs. Morris has lost some of his usage to Tobias Harris (who is also in the SF spot on DK). I think Marcus barely squeaks by 20 DK points tonight.

Power Forward Matchups

TARGET DeMarcus Cousins vs. Zach Randolph – Zbo is carrying the load for a Gasol-less Grizzlies. He is ranked 9th against opposing PFs, but honestly should have no answer for Boogie tonight. If you want a guy that should go for over 50 and could put up 70….look no further than Boogie tonight.

AVOIDPatrick Peterson/Luis Scola vs. Derrick Favors – Don’t play a PF versus the 1st ranked guy against PFs. That was simple, wasn’t it?

Center Matchups

TARGET Dwight Howard vs. Alexis Anjica- The Pelican’s couldn’t guard me at Center and are the worst in the league at defending Cs. Howard has been very consistent over the last few games and should continue his consistency tonight with a 40+ DK game.

AVOIDJonas Valanciunas vs. Rudy Gobert – Just like Favors, Gobert has set himself up as a defensive force in the post. His is ranked 3rd against opposing Cs, so he will give Jo Val all he can handle tonight. I have him projected at 25 DK points tonight.

Lineup Quick Hits

Superstar Worth Paying For

Russell Westbrook ($11,000) – Westbrook hasn’t been held below 50 DraftKings points in his last 10 games and while he probably needs closer to 55 or 60 to reach value here, he’s had no issue reaching that plateau over the last month either. Chris Paul is certainly a tough matchup but this game should be uptempo and while Westy may have to work harder to get his stats, he should still be able to rack up fantasy points in an uptempo contest vs. the Clippers.

Save Big Bucks by Drafting

C.J. Watson ($3,100) – If you are looking to stack the 50 point ballers tonight then Watson can make a nice salary-saving play. Watson gave us great value and 20 points during his last game. His value does depend on Evan Fournier’s status tonight though. Fournier is doubtful but assuming he sits, plug Watson into your lineups.

Dud of the Night

Marcin Gortat ($7,100) – Gortat threw up a monster during his last game, but that was against the 76ers. Tonight he gets the rookie that has been on fire in Karl Anthony-Towns. He shouldn’t have a repeat performance of his last game and he is definitely over-priced after back to back games against Philly.
