Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
UPDATE: George Hill is out for tonight’s game with the Kings.
George Hill ($6,400) vs. Sacramento Kings – The Kings are giving up 58.4 total DKFP to PGs over the past five games. Hill has scored 29+ DKFP in four of his last five games, playing more than 32 minutes in all five contests. With the Jazz still battling for playoff position, Hill should be full speed ahead against one of the NBA’s worst teams.
WORST – Jeff Teague ($6,700) vs. Memphis Grizzlies – The Grizzlies have been the fourth-best team defending PGs recently, allowing just 43 total DKFP on average in the last five games. That said, Teague’s topped 40 DKFP in four of his last five, so with his price as low as it is you don’t need to be completely afraid of this matchup.
Shooting Guard Matchups
BEST – Victor Oladipo ($6,000) vs. Orlando Magic – DeMar DeRozan ($8,700) is in a good spot against the Hornets, but this is a revenge game here for Oladipo. His former team is surrendering over 50 total DKFP to SGs in the last 10 games, something Oladipo will have motivation to take advantage of. Victor has scored 30+ DKFP in three of his last four, so he’s already rolling coming into this game.
WORST – Klay Thompson ($6,900) vs. San Antonio Spurs – The Spurs are already allowing less than 35 DKFP to SGs in the last 10 games, but with KD still sidelined, Kawhi Leonard should see some time on Klay. Thompson’s been hot lately, but did play 37 minutes just last night in a fast-paced game against the Rockets.
Small Forward Matchups
UPDATE: Robert Covington is out for tonight’s game against the Hawks.
Robert Covington ($6,900) vs. Atlanta Hawks – The Hawks rank 29th in DKFP allowed to opposing SFs this season at 48.6 per game. RoCo dropped 48.25 DKFP last night against the Nets, and has consistently showed 50 fantasy-point upside this season.
WORST – Carmelo Anthony ($6,700) vs. Miami Heat – ‘Melo is an awesome value with his salary so cheap, but he’s also a risk to take a night off or play limited minutes. With Miami yielding less than 40 total DKFP to SFs over its past five, Anthony isn’t in an ideal fantasy situation. I can’t argue with you if you want to take advantage of his price, though.
Power Forward Matchups
BEST – Blake Griffin ($7,900) vs. Washington Wizards – Griffin has been flat out horrible lately — scoring 32 DKFP or less in each of his last four games. The Wizards rank in the bottom-five defending PFs this season, though, up at nearly 50 total DKFP per game. With no other outstanding PF matchups on this slate, you may get an overlooked Blake in a good position for a bounce-back game.
WORST – Draymond Green ($7,500) vs. San Antonio Spurs – Draymond left last night’s game against the Rockets with an ankle injury, but returned and will play tonight. He still managed to play 33 minutes and produce a good fantasy line, but the Spurs have been the second-best team at limiting PF production this season. Green hasn’t done well in bad matchups lately, failing to reach value in three of his last five (against MEM/DAL/OKC).
BEST – Rudy Gobert ($8,600) vs. Sacramento Kings – Gobert’s salary is the highest it’s been all season, but he couldn’t be any hotter right now. Rudy’s played 35+ minutes in 11 straight games, and surpassed 42 DKFP in six straight. The Kings are getting gashed for 63.5 total DKFP per game in their last five, so I think you can keep rolling him out there.
WORST – Myles Turner ($6,400) vs. Memphis Grizzlies – Marc Gasol is out once again, but that hasn’t stopped the Grizzlies from still terrorizing opposing bigs. Turner has been trending up lately, which means his price tag has too. With so many other centers in great matchups, I’m not looking at Turner.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Russell Westbrook ($13,200) – Russ has back-to-back games with 75 DKFP, and handed the Magic 83 DKFP the last time he played them. Finding value is tough tonight, which could bring Westbrook’s ownership down. If you’re surrounding him with the right value, Russ could be a great play.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
Andre Iguodala ($4,500) – Iggy’s played 31 or more minutes in back-to-back games, scoring 41.75 and 28.5 DKFP in those games. Staying hot against the Spurs will be tough, but his minutes could even go up to keep him matched up with Kawhi.
Next Man Up
Note: Solomon Hill is questionable for tonight’s game. Be sure to check his status closer to game time.
Solomon Hill ($4,400)- Boogie’s been banged up lately, and although Hill is already a starter, he gets a much larger opportunity when Cousins (questionable) sits. Follow the news here for a good chance to roster Hill.
Plenty of injury news is sure to open up lots of value, so make sure you check the DK Live app prior to lock for all the latest breaking news regarding injuries, lineups and analysis.
