Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Warriors vs. Kings- This game is fantasy glory tonight. The total in this one is 222 and will provide scoring galore. Another awesome thing about this game is that the spread is only 6.5, which means it should stay relatively close. The big 3 are in play for the Warriors and the Kings will have a lot of Rondo/Boogie.
LOW O/U – Nets vs. Pistons- The Nets have been hit with the injury bug, but are honestly just horrible. The Pistons are pushing for the playoffs this year, behind the strong play of C Andre Drummond. The o/u in this game is 195, and should provide us with a lot of rebounds. I like the big men in this one.
Pace of Play
HIGH PACE – Wizards vs. Magic- The Warriors game provides us with a blazing 105.5 pace. This game is the second fastest of the night at 98.7. This has the potential to be the John Wall show, as he is coming off of a poor performance last night. I also love Oladipo for value, but so will everybody else on DK. This definitely makes him a great cash game play.
LOW PACE – Heat vs. Jazz- Wow, it has been a while since we have seen a game under a 90 projected pace. This game comes in at a 89.8 projected game pace and should be a lot more defense than offense. I am monitoring this one to see if Favors will be in or out. If he plays this game will be the battle of the bigs.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Reggie Jackson vs. Shane Larkin- Larkin has done a decent job stepping in for an injured Jack. However, R Jax should exploit the 27th ranked team against opposing guards tonight. R Jax has produced slightly undervalued in his last 5, but has an opportunity to right the ship tonight.
AVOID – Trey Burke vs. Goran Dragic – I have been using Burke as a value play lately, due to the injuries on the Jazz. Unfortunately tonight he gets a Heat team that is 2nd against opposing guards and has stopped some of the elite guards in the league. I have Burke projected at 20 FPs which is slightly undervalued tonight.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – Klay Thompson vs. Marco Bellineli- SGs dominate the Kings and Klay has been on a tear lately. Klay produced a 50 DK point game last night and has hit value in his last 5. I think he has an opportunity to exceed value by a lot tonight.
AVOID – Rodney Hood vs. Dwyane Wade – Hood is a game time decision tonight. D Wade locks down opposing SGs. If Hood can’t go, it is unclear who the Jazz will roll out. I am staying away from this matchup due to sheer uncertainty.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Tobias Harris vs. Otto Porter- Otto has been a great source of offensive points for the Wizards in January. He still hasn’t figured out how to guard an opposing player. Harris has the potential to light up a scoreboard, but is extremely inconsistent. He has a great opportunity to exceed value tonight.
AVOID – Bojan Bogdanovic vs. Marcus Morris Marcus is a great defender and is 2nd in the league against opposing SFs. Bojan has had to insert himself into the starting lineup due to injuries. Due to the matchup I think he only produces about 15 DK points.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – Draymond Green vs. Omri Casspi – Green is on a triple double tear and has been an amazing fantasy play lately. Casspi may or may not play, but that doesn’t matter. Green should have his way with the Kings tonight and my prediction is 45+ DK points.
AVOID – Derrick Favors vs. Chris Bosh – This matchup goes both ways. If Favors suits up tonight, two of the best defending PFs in the league face off tonight. I think they both end up around value, but I doubt they will win you a GPP.
TARGET – Andre Drummond vs. Brook Lopez Just like I advocated playing Vuc and BroLo last night, I am doing the same tonight. Both of this guys will get boards and points, which means they both are in play. If you can fit them both stack up the C and the flex tonight.
AVOID – Hassan Whiteside vs. Rudy Gobert – Gobert is back and seems to be at full strength. With him in the lineup the Jazz are ranked 2nd against opposing Cs. I just feel like there are better plays tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
DeMarcus Cousins (10,200) – Boogie is questionable tonight, but should play. He has produced monster fantasy points lately and is projected at 55+ in a high scoring contest tonight. Steph hasn’t gotten back to form yet, which puts Boogie in a league of his own tonight. If he plays I am paying up for him.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
James Johnson (3,700) – JJ is getting the start for an injured Demarre Carroll. The 76ers couldn’t guard me at SF. For his value price I think he at least hits 20 FPs tonight. Please just don’t Mario Chalmers all of us!!!
Dud of the Night
Hassan Whiteside (7,200) – Whiteside still looks to be hampered by injuries. He has had two rough outings in a row and it doesn’t get any easier tonight. Based on price and matchup I am staying away.
This is not a comprehensive list. Be sure to check for injury updates throughout the day
Demarre Carroll – Out, Willie Cauley-Stein – Doubtful
