Game Flow Notes

Vegas Lines

HIGH O/UMavericks vs. Pelicans- The total in this game is 207. I love where the Brow comes into this game and I am more on Pelican players than Mavs. Monitor the PG situation as Jrue may become a great play if Tyreke sits.

LOW O/UJazz vs. Spurs- It doesn’t get any slower than this, the total here is 186. I like some of the value in this game, but I feel like it will be a defensive battle which doesn’t bid well for fantasy purposes.

Pace of Play

HIGH PACEHornets vs. Suns- Kemba and B Knight will battle it out tonight as the premier players on their teams. With a projected pace of 101.2 this game should have a lot of action. I like both guards and the secondary guards in this one.

LOW PACEKnicks vs. Heat- With a projected game pace of 92.9 this is the 2nd slowest on the night. Other than Carmelo and Chris Bosh I am staying away from this matchup.

Defense vs. Position

Point Guard Matchups

TARGET Ricky Rubio vs. Jameer Nelson- Rubio, Rubio, Rubio! Rubio has been a great source of full stat lines lately. He gets a matchup with the 28th ranked team against opposing PGs. I love his price and his usage tonight.

AVOID Goran Dragic vs. Jose Calderon- I am staying away from both of these guys tonight. They both play great D and are ranked in the top 10 in the league.

Shooting Guard Matchups

TARGET Jeremy Lin vs. Devin Booker- With Jeremy Lamb and Nicolas Batum both questionable, Lin should get the start at SG. Since Bledsoe has gone down with his injury, the Suns have been terrible against opposing SGs. At his price Lin makes for an elite value play tonight.

AVOID Arron Affalo vs. Dwyane Wade – Affalo had a nice outing last night and has played well for the Knicks. Tonight he gets a tough matchup against D Wade. I like for both of these guys to come close to value, but I doubt they get anywhere near exceeding value.

Small Forward Matchups

TARGETLeBron James vs. Otto Porter- LBJ gets the best SF matchup tonight and is the best “athlete” in the league. At a sub 10k price I will take all that I can handle.

AVOIDJae Crowder vs. Marcus Morris Morris has played exceptionally well defensively this season. His coach loves him and the team loves him. Crowder has had some good offensive games, I think that he could reach value tonight. If you want to win a GPP, tonight will be the night to spend up on SFs.

Power Forward Matchups

TARGETAnthony Davis vs. Dirk Nowitzki – The Brow had 52 DK points during his last game and is projected at 55+ today. Old man Dirk is coming off of a double OT game and will likely be tired. The Brow has the ability to ham it up tonight.

AVOID Kristaps Porzingis vs. Chris Bosh – Surprisingly Porzingis had a decent performance last night. Tonight he gets Bosh and the 2nd ranked team against opposing PFs. actually like Bosh as a GPP play tonight and feel like Porzingis will get to face a true veteran tonight.

Center Matchups

TARGETZaza Pachulia vs. Omer Asik/Alexis Anjica As we work our way into the season some things are becoming pretty easy to determine. One of those is playing Cs versus the Pelicans. Zaza is coming off of an OT game with the Kings last night, but exceeded value. He will have a great opportunity to post 30+ DK points tonight and is a great cash play.

AVOIDMarc Gasol vs. Steven Adams- It’s hard to put Gasol on a list for players to avoid. However, tonight he gets a tough matchup with the Thunder. Gasol only had 19 DK points during his last outing and is projected as the 7th fantasy producing C tonight. I simply feel like there are better plays.

Lineup Quick Hits

Superstar Worth Paying For

Russell Westbrook ($11,600) – You are going to have to pay up and I mean way up to get the elite player tonight. Westy comes in at over 11k, but should be worth every penny. Kevin Durant is out again, so most of the offense will run through Westy. He came in just under value during that last game, but he will need a nice outing to contend with the slow play of the Grizzlies.

Save Big Bucks by Drafting

Jeff Withey ($4,600) – I finally jumped on the Jeff Withey train the last two games the Jazz played. Withey has been great while starting for Gobert and Favors. Favors didn’t travel with the team, so won’t play tonight. Gobert did travel with the team, but is highly doubtful tonight. Withey will have a tougher matchup tonight against the Spurs, but has the minutes and usage to be relevant.

Dud of the Night

Gordon Hayward ($7,400) – Usually I am all about Hayward when Favors is out. However, tonight he gets the man and the defensive guru, Kawhi Leonard. This will be a tough matchup all around and I am thinking about staying away from this game all together due to uncertainty.

This is not a comprehensive list. Be sure to check for injury updates throughout the day
