Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Nuggets vs. Warriors- The highest total on the night is 210.5 and features the NBA’s elite. Steph is still questionable, but even if he doesn’t suit up this one will include a lot of Draymond Green and company. With a 12.5 spread, this game does have the makings of a blowout, but the stars should hit value.
LOW O/U – Magic vs. Cavaliers- Luckily for the Griz/Jazz there is no total yet (I am envisioning a total of 26 points scored for that one). The lowest present total is the Magic and Cavs at 194.5. Lebron will get his and I will try my hand at Evan Fournier again tonight. This one has some nice cash game plays.
Pace of Play
HIGH PACE – Suns vs. Kings- The Suns and Kings have played at a blazing pace all season long. Both of their coaches like to push the ball and will be moving it up the court tonight. With a projected game pace of 104.8 this is the fastest on the night. Obviously, Boogie Cousins is in play. I also like TJ Warren and Brandon Knight as they both seem to be the only scorers for the Suns.
LOW PACE – Grizzlies vs. Jazz- Don’t worry Jazz fans, I won’t leave you out tonight. The slowest pace on the night and one of the slowest I have seen this year at a 91.9. This game really doesn’t have anything I like, as a feel like it is a horrible matchup for fantasy fans.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Rajon Rondo vs. Brandon Knight- I am yet to understand how the Kings are constantly the Bad News Bears of the NBA. So much disfunction can’t be solely on Boogie’s shoulders. Rondo has a massive matchup tonight and should take advantage of the injury riddled Suns.
AVOID – Jarrett Jack vs. Isaiah Thomas – IT2 is becoming one of the most elite defenders of opposing guards in the league. The Celtics are still ranked 1st against PGs and Jack should have his hands full tonight.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – Klay Thompson vs. Will Barton- I know, I hate playing Klay as much as the next guy. His production relies solely on how many points he scores. However tonight he faces a team that can’t guard an SG. He has a great chance to exceed value tonight, even more so if Curry sits.
AVOID – Rodney Hood vs. Courtney Lee- This matchup goes both ways. Both of these guys are great defenders and should limit the overall production. Both teams are in the top 10 against opposing SGs.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Kawhi Leonard vs. Trevor Ariza- Kawhi has a monster matchup tonight and will have to rival the scoring of the Rockets. He is an elite play tonight and has the chance to easily exceed value.
AVOID – Tobias Harris vs. Lebron James During their last matchup Tobias had a nice game against the Cavs. However, today he gets an LBJ that is trying to right the ship. Lebron has turned the defense on lately as he is ranked 3rd in the league against opposing SFs.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – LaMarcus Aldridge vs. Clint Capela – We should all just play PF’s against the Rockets. Yes it is settled, play PFs against the Rockets.
AVOID – Cody Zeller vs. Serge Ibaka- Serge is ranked 9th against opposing PFs. Zeller has made for a great value play, but he will have a tough matchup tonight. With the pace of this game I could see more Frank than Cody tonight.
TARGET – Zaza Pachulia vs. The Pelican’s C Just as we are rolling out a PF against the Rockets, we roll a C out against the Pelican’s. Zaza has been a nice source of value and should continue this tonight.
AVOID – Nikola Vucevic vs. Timofey Mozgov- The Cavs have been great against opposing Cs and are ranked 2nd in the league. Vuc is an elite scorer and C, but there are better options tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Russell Westbrook (10,700) – Honestly, if Steph Curry wasn’t questionable he could easily be in this spot as well. Westy is once again projected at over 50 DK points and has the ability to put up 60 on any given night. If I am paying up I want consistency and Westy gives me that.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
TJ Warren (4,800) – Warren had a monster game against the Thunder during his last outing. He put up 54 DK points and was straight Ham! He should draw the start again tonight and has the ability to exceed value tonight.
Dud of the Night
Ish Smith (7,200) – Once you brag on them they throw up a rough outing. Ish has a tough matchup tonight against an elite PG defender….CP3. He will have the usage and the minutes to possibly reach value, but with the price hike I don’t see him winning you a GPP tonight.
This is not a comprehensive list. Be sure to check for injury updates throughout the day
Willie Cauley Stein – Out, Devin Harris – Doubtful, Harrison Barnes – Doubtful, Al Jefferson – Out, Emmanuel Mudiay – Out, Leandro Barbosa – Doubtful
