Defense vs. Position

Point Guard Matchups

BESTElfrid Payton ($6,200) vs. Denver Nuggets – The Nuggets rank 29th this season vs. PGs, and worst in the league over the past five and 10 game spans. On top of such a fantastic matchup, Payton dropped 58.75 DKFP in his last game.

WORSTDamian Lillard ($8,300) vs. Washington Wizards – Lillard hasn’t hit value in thee of his last four games, but he has still seen his salary rise since his last game. The Wizards rank fifth in the NBA against opposing PGs, limiting Lillard’s upside in this one.

Shooting Guard Matchups

BESTTyreke Evans ($5,400) vs. Indiana Pacers – It’s a thin slate at SG for sure. If you don’t want to pay up for McCollum, I think Evans makes for a nice option against Indiana. The Pacers have ranked in the bottom-10 agains SG all season long, while Tyreke has been coming on strong lately despite playing limited minutes.

WORSTBradley Beal ($6,900) vs. Portland Trailblazers – Beal is a tough player to figure out in general, but he’s been extremely inconsistent this season. He could go off at any time, but I want no part of him against a Blazers’ defense that’s ranked in the top-10 vs. SGs and is allowing just 33.1 DKFP to the position over the last five games.

Small Forward Matchups

BESTRobert Covington ($5,500) vs. Milwaukee Bucks – The Bucks rank dead last in the NBA against SF, and are allowing over 55 DKFP to them over the past 10 games. Covington is coming off a brutal game which caused his salary to be lowered $700. Prior to that, he had topped 25 DKFP in six straight games.

WORSTAaron Gordon ($5,800) vs. Denver Nuggets – Gordon has been one of the hotter value plays lately, and frankly he’s been performing in some horrible matchups. Perhaps he can do it again this afternoon, but it’ll have to come against the fourth-ranked Nuggets — the best team against SFs on the slate.

Power Forward Matchups

BESTMarkieff Morris ($6,000) vs. Portland Trailblazers – If you’ve been using PFs against the Blazers this season, you’ve probably been seeing some success. They’ve been in the basement in terms of guarding PFs for the entire season, leaving Morris (who’s scored 34+ DKFP in three of his last four games) in a great spot.

WORSTJabari Parker ($7,400) vs. Philadelphia 76ers – Parker has been on a role lately, scoring 35 or more DKFP in five consecutive contests. However, (drumroll please) the Sixers have been the NBA’s best team defending PFs over their past five games, allowing an average of just 36.9 DKFP to the position.

Center Matchups

BESTGreg Monroe ($6,100) vs. Philadelphia 76ers – The Sixers have been the second-worst team against centers this season, and are allowing 59 DKFP to the position over the past five games. Monroe’s hot streak ended yesterday in Atlanta, so it’s possible he goes overlooked.

WORSTJoakim Noah ($5,000) vs. Atlanta Hawks – Noah’s salary has been creeping upwards lately despite failing to reach value in five of his past six games. If that stat doesn’t scare you away, combine it with the fact that the Hawks rank fourth vs. centers (and first over the past five games) against opposing centers and there is cause for concern here.

Lineup Quick Hits

Superstar Worth Paying For

Anthony Davis ($11,700) – AD has scored 63+ DKFP in three consecutive games. Indiana ranks near the bottom of the league against both PF and center, so there’s no reason to think Davis can’t have a big game with a strong matchup no matter what position he is deployed at.

Save Big Bucks by Drafting

Jodie Meeks ($4,000) – Keep an eye on Evan Fournier’s status in this one, as he missed Orlando’s last game with a foot injury. Meanwhile, Meeks has scored 27+ DKFP in two of his last three games, and played 38 minutes on Saturday with Fournier out.

Next Man Up

Sergio Rodriguez ($3,200) – T.J. McConnell is out for this one, leaving Rodriguez to eat up the majority of the PG minutes. The matchup with the Bucks isn’t ideal, but the price is.
