Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – 76ers vs. Wizards- This one should be fast and high scoring. The total in this one is 214. I like Nerlens Noel and Ish Smith for the 76ers. On the Wiz side this will be about John Wall and Marcin Gortat. I am running Wall in multiple lineups and hoping it stays close.
LOW O/U – Jazz vs. Celtics- Here are the Jazz, but a 202.5 total isn’t that bad, if I’m being honest. I love Isaiah Thomas for the Celtics, as the Jazz PG D has sort of fallen off. For the Jazz I am all about the bigs, and I think Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors are in play tonight.
Pace of Play
|Away Team||Away Pace||Home Team||Home Pace||Avg Pace|
HIGH PACE – Thunder vs. Kings – This is the fastest game on the night and is loaded with scorers. The projected game pace is 103.7. I will take Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, and DeMarcus Cousins all in one lineup please.
LOW PACE – Grizzlies vs. Nuggets – The Grizzlies are a team in shambles. The Nuggets aren’t too far behind. The projected game pace is 95.6. For the Grizz it will be Zach Randolph and Mike Conley carrying the load, per usual. For the Nuggets, look no further than Will Barton tonight.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Chris Paul vs. Donald Sloan – CP3 had 76 DraftKings fantasy points during his last game. Although I don’t see that in his future, I do think he has another monster night. Ride the usage rate and the hot play of CP3 while you can.
AVOID – Patrick Beverley vs. Michael Carter-Williams – MCW and the Bucks are ranked 8th against opposing PGs. Beverley is a great defender, but usually doesn’t light up the scoreboard. He also has issues with usage, as he is on a James Harden led team.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – James Harden vs. Khris Middleton – This is still all about usage. The Beard will get the ball a lot tonight and will drive about every time he puts his hands on the ball. I am thinking 50 DK points tonight.
AVOID – J.R. Smith vs. Monta Ellis – The Pacers are 17th against opposing SGs. Smith has had a rough couple of outings and looks to be cooling down from his hot streak. I have him projected at 25 DK points tonight.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Kevin Durant vs. Rudy Gay – KD will be mad. The Kings are ranked 22nd against opposing SFs. Count me in!
AVOID – Robert Covington vs. Otto Porter- Bob Cov’s streakiness has finally come to a boiling point. He goes for 18 DK points, then 41 DK points, then 23 Dk points. That is inconsistency at its finest. The Wizards struggle against SFs, but until Bob Cov finds his stroke more consistently, I am off of him.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – Derrick Favors vs. Amir Johnson – The Celtics have struggled on the big man front since Kelly Olynyk went out. Amir is ranked 26th against opposing PFs. He won’t be able to hold one of the best PFs in the game in Favors down tonight.
AVOID – Myles Turner vs. Kevin Love – Myles seems priced too high for his value right now. When Ian Mahinmi was out, Turner was posting a higher usage rate, and, thus, scoring a lot more points. Love and the Cavs are 2nd against opposing PFs. Turner will have his hands full tonight.
TARGET – DeAndre Jordan vs. Brook Lopez – DJ has seen high usage with Blake out indefinitely. The Nets are ranked 23rd against opposing Cs and they should struggle with the rebounding machine tonight.
AVOID – Willie Cauley-Stein vs. Steven Adams- Adams is ranked 4th against opposing Cs. The Thunder have used their pace and their big man to lock down other teams. Cauley-Stein is still playing rookie fodder and should get his fill tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Russell Westbrook ($11,100)- Westy and Durant should be frustrated about their 2nd loss to the Warriors. Westbrook has a great matchup tonight against the Kings and could go for 60 DK points. I have him projected at 50+ and think he is the safest option to get there.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
Shelvin Mack ($4,600) – Mack had a rough outing during his last game, but he should get the start again today. He should be able to get 20+ DK points easily. I have him projected at 25 DK points tonight and I will have a lot of exposure.
Dud of the Night
Editor’s Note: Jahlil Okafor is out for tonight’s game. Jerami Grant will get the start in his place for the 76ers, according to 76ers beat writer, Tom Moore.
Jahlil Okafor ($6,100) – This rookie isn’t Karl-Anthony Towns. Okafor has to 30+ DK games back to back, but he faces off against the Polish Hammer, Marcin Gortat tonight. He gets his ‘Dud’ status from the fact that he is slightly overpriced. At $5,500 I am all in; at over $6,000 i’ll be looking elsewhere.
C.J. Miles – Doubtful, John Henson – Out, Clint Capela – Doubtful, Jameer Nelson – Doubtful-
Update: Rondo is now DOUBTFUL for tonight’s game. Rudy Gay is also doubtful for tonight’s game. Omri Casspi and Ben McLemore look to be the main beneficiaries. Casspi sees a 14.1 percent increase in Fantasy Points Per Minute with Gay out. Collison sees a 54.31 percent increase in Fantasy Points Per Minute when Rondo is out.
Editor’s Note: Rajon Rondo missed shootaround today, and he is questionable for tonight’s game. If he misses, look for Darren Collison to take the reigns again of the Sacramento offense.
