Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Clippers vs. Rockets – The battle of the not living up to expectations is tonight and it has the highest total. The Clips/Rockets come in at an o/u of 212.5. Blake should have a field day against the terrible Rockets D. If the Rockets want to stay in the game it will take a big game from the Beard.
LOW O/U – Bulls vs. Knicks – I am betting that the Bulls are worn out after the marathon game against the Pistons last night. Melo is playing like a young man again and the Knicks are trying to work toward 500. The o/u in this game is 195 and the spread is only -3. Honestly, I like rolling out some Knicks tonight.
Pace of Play
HIGH PACE – Hornets vs. Wizards – My Hornets have been blazing this year and tonight they are in the fastest game. With a projected game pace of 100.7, this game is even faster than the Rockets. It is very tempting to roll Lin out tonight, but Batum should return to the starting lineup. I love Wall or Gortat on the other side of the ball.
LOW PACE – Pacers vs. Grizzlies – Slow, slow, and more slow; the Griz usually hit this pace during most of their games. With a projected game pace of 98.2 this is the slowest game of the night. Obviously I like Paul George in the matchup, but may roll out some shares of Marc Gasol as well.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Russell Westbrook vs. D’Angelo Russell – Welcome back home Westy! Westbrook has the best matchup tonight against the 30th ranked Lakers. My only worry is that he will sit the entire 4th quarter in a blowout.
AVOID – Mike Conley vs. George Hill – Conley provided some nice value last night, but tonight he gets a tough matchup. The Pacers are ranked 2nd against opposing PGs. Conley will have his work cut out for him tonight.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – Nicolas Batum vs. Gary Neal? – We are unsure who will get the start for the Wiz tonight. Batum is probable and should suit up. Honestly whoever gets the SG start for the Hornets should be in your line. The Wiz are terrible against opposing SGs.
AVOID – Arron Affalo vs. Jimmy Butler – Affalo had a nice 30+ DK performance last night. Tonight he faces Jimmy Butler and just like Kawhi Leonard, Butler is an elite defender. I would stay away from this matchup tonight.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Paul George vs. Jeff Green- The Griz are ranked 21st against opposing SFs. George has hit a rough patch, but he has the matchup to right the ship tonight. Coming in at a little less money, PG has the makings of the best big money value on the night.
AVOID – Kobe Bryant vs. Kevin Durant- KD has been quietly been defending at a high level this season. Kobe went retro on us against the Rockets last game. Unfortunately, Kobe will have all he can handle tonight against a superstar in his prime.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – Blake Griffin vs. Clint Capela – Here’s what I have to say about this….play Blake tonight.
AVOID – Julius Randle vs. Serge Ibaka – Randle has had a nice year, but tonight will get a seasoned vet. Ibaka is one of the top 5 defensive PFs in the game. The only way Randle exceeds value is by playing extra blowout minutes.
TARGET – Marcin Gortat vs. Cody Zeller – Al Jeff is still out due to a suspension. Zeller has filled in nicely, but he is no match for the Polish Hammer. I love a Wall/Gortat stack out of this game.
AVOID – Roy Hibbert vs. Steven Adams- Hibbert has just been mediocre this year and seems to be aging out. Adams isn’t usually an offensive force, but he is a great defender. I am staying away from both Lakers bigs tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Russell Westbrook (10,500) – He’s coming home, he’s coming home, Westy may put up 100 DK points tonight. I have him projected at 60+ DK points and wouldn’t be surprised to see him exceed that if Donovan lets him play the whole game.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
Kris Humphries (3,700) – Nene should sit tonight, which means that Humphries will probably get the start. He hit value last game and has a better matchup tonight. If you are rolling out a studs and duds line, the Humphries fits perfectly.
Dud of the Night
Marc Gasol(7,300) – Gasol has missed value the last two games. Tonight he gets a tougher matchup. I only have him projected at around 30 DK points and would love to see 40 as C at his price.
Nene Hilario – Doubtful, Tony Allen – Doubtful
