Game Flow Notes
HIGH O/U – Hawks vs. Thunder – On a short slate tonight’s highest scoring game produces to of the highest scoring fantasy producers. With an o/u of 212, the Hawks and Thunder will see a lot of points tonight. I love Westy tonight, as well as the post for the Hawks.
LOW O/U – 76ers vs. Nets – Surprisingly this game isn’t projected as a blowout, which is great for fantasy players. The o/u in this one is 196.5. I love the value in this game and may even consider a stack despite the low scoring. It will be interesting to see Lopez and Young work the post in this one.
Pace of Play
HIGH PACE – Clippers vs. Bulls – The Clippers play fast, historically the Bulls don’t. Tonight the Clippers will try to push the pace and run a lot of the offense through CP3 and Blake. With a projected pace of 101.2 this is the fastest game on the night.
LOW PACE – Hawks vs. Thunder – Shocked, I know I am. The total in this game makes it seem like it will be a lot faster. The projected game pace is 100. This game is projected as the third fastest out of four games. I still believe that Westy will push the ball, I just think analyst are including the Hawks post play into the pace.
Defense vs. Position
Point Guard Matchups
TARGET – Tony Wroten vs. Jarrett Jack – The Nets are ranked 25th against opposing PGs. Wroten draws the PG start tonight and will be hungry for shots. Obviously Westy is the top play on the night, but Wroten could definitely hit value on a short slate.
AVOID – Rajon Rondo vs. Jose Calderon – Rondo has been great this year, but he gets the 9th ranked team against PGs tonight. I expect a lot of the action to come from Gay and Cousins tonight which casts a shadow on Rondo’s production.
Shooting Guard Matchups
TARGET – Isaiah Canaan vs. Joe Johnson – Once again the Nets struggle against guards. Coming in at 29th against opposing SGs the Nets may have a tough time with a surging Canaan. The 76ers desperately want another win.
AVOID – Kyle Korver vs. Andre Roberson – The Thunder have progressively gotten better at the SG position. Korver has had a rough start to this injury riddled year and probably won’t be called on to do a lot tonight. A guy that only hits the occasional 3 ball seems to lose DK value as the season continues.
Small Forward Matchups
TARGET – Bojan Bogdanovich vs. Robert Covington – Bojan put up some big numbers due to his injury spot start the other night. He will get the start again, in a great matchup between the 29th ranked 76ers. Bob Cov will score tonight, but I doubt he defends.
AVOID – Thabo Sefolosha vs. Kevin Durant – Thabo gets his old team tonight. KD and the Thunder are ranked 8th against opposing SFs. Thabo already doesn’t score, this matchup drops his value even more.
Power Forward Matchups
TARGET – Thad Young vs. Nerlens Noel – Young is the guy you love, but don’t want to talk to your friends about for fear they will use him in their lineups. He is extremely consistent and gets an easy matchup with the 76ers tonight. He has a great chance at exceeding value tonight.
AVOID – Taj Gibson vs. Blake Griffin – Griffin and the Clips are 5th against opposing PFs. Taj should get the start over Mirotic tonight, but has a terrible matchup. After he barely posted value last week, tonight really feels like a tough one for him to return value.
TARGET – Brook Lopez vs. Jahlil Okafor – Okafor has nothing at all for BroLo. If this game stays close, as projected, BroLo should dominate tonight.
AVOID – Al Horford vs. Steven Adams – Adams is a great defender, Horford has had a mediocre season. The Thunder have been good against opposing Cs and this will probably be the Paul Millsap show tonight.
Lineup Quick Hits
Superstar Worth Paying For
Russell Westbrook (10,400) – It was the KD show last game, but I love where Westy comes in tonight. The Hawks have struggled with PGs this year and I have Westy projected at 50+ DK points. He was slightly under value at 47 last game, but he still had a strong outing.
Save Big Bucks by Drafting
Joe Johnson (5,500) – Old man Joe went off last game as he put up 45+ DK points. He gets a great matchup with the 76ers tonight and has the ability to dominate. On a short slate his price presents us with great value. Hopefully the hot streak continues tonight.
Dud of the Night
Derrick Rose (6,500) – Rose gets a matchup with CP3 tonight. In the past we would see Rose up his game when elite guards rolled into town. However, this year Rose doesn’t look like the superstar of old. He has quietly hit value some nights, but the days of him putting up 60 fantasy points look over.
