Hoping to avoid a repeat of last summer’s DeAndre Jordan saga, the Dallas Mavericks are taking no chances when it comes to locking up their latest cornerstone addition…

See those? Those are HANDCUFFS around Harrison Barnes’ wrist which is shackled to Mavericks’ GM Donnie Nelson. That’s taking it to a new level.

After Jordan agreed to and then backed out of a deal with Dallas last offseason – also known as the epic #EmojiGate – it looks like the Mavericks decided to poke a little fun at the situation when it came to signing Barnes. Good looks, Mark Cuban.

Early this morning, Barnes finalized and signed a four-year, $94 million max contract with the Mavericks after four productive years and a championship with the Golden State Warriors. The Mavericks also seem to be on their way to assembling the best Warriors imitation in the NBA… We’ll see if the Mavs decide to “lock up” anyone else this offseason.
