Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.

Been getting a lot of tweets about what the schedule is for these blogs – I’ll be honest, I’ve been holding off because I haven’t gotten a great feel of the league yet for this season, fantasy-wise. Lot of my free time has been spent focusing on football still and I’m still feeling out the NBA. I also can’t get a good grasp on ownership levels, which as everyone knows is important for these large scale tournament picks. I’ll have a guy that I think is an obvious chalk play go 5% owned while a guy I thought I was being somewhat sneaky on is 49%. So, bear that in mind, that it’s still early in the season, but I think tonight is a great spot to lock and load and finally make a big splash.

Here are your top salary guys:

  • Westbrook $10.5K
  • Steph $10.1K
  • James Harden $10K
  • LeBron $9.9K
  • Blake Griffin $9.6K
  • Kevin Durant $9.5K

If you can put all 6 in your lineup, do it. Then email me and let me know how you hacked DraftKings. You’re most likely going to have to pick 1 guy, 2 maybe if you have a bunch of value plays lined up. It’s basically like throwing darts at a board wondering which superstar is going to have the biggest game, but gun to head, here’s my top 3:

1) Steph – he’s the reigning MVP and somehow managed to get 10X better. Just ridiculous right now. The Clippers are a tough matchup but that just makes me like him more, he’ll have motivation to play full minutes.

2) Westbrook – always a risk you’ll overpay and only get a 40 point game, but the 70 point upside makes him deadly in tourneys.

3) Harden – finally broke out last game and now gets a horrible defense.

Now for some under the radar plays…

Kawhi Leonard $7.8K

He’s been known as the standard cash-game play for his career so far, but this year it finally seems like he’s got the massive upside for tournaments. With the Big 3 averaging about 56 years old and their minutes way down, Kawhi has stepped up and put up some huge games already – 56 fantasy points his last time out. And it’s obviously a small sample size, but the Wizards are giving up the most fantasy points to small forwards so far this year. Add it together and bingo bango, you got a pretty sweet play. He’s a name brand guy, but he’s had some pretty low % in the past few tournament fields I’ve been in.

Monta Ellis $5.9K

Ah, the most pure tournament play imaginable. Monta Ellis, the guy who can shoot 1-39 in a game…or who could explode out of nowhere for 40 real points and 55 fantasy points. Here’s the deal – he has not looked good, he’s on a new team, and he’s incredibly volatile. That will (I’m guessing) keep a lot of people away from him (hopefully). He can also get red hot and shoot the lights out any given night, and he’s playing in a game with a nice total with a lot of garbage points to go around. Also the Celtics are currently the worst at defending the 2. Not for the faint of heart, but these are the type of plays you take chances on to try and win a tournament.

Evan Fournier $4.4K

Not a guy a lot of people know, and hopefully that works in our favor. Had him in my lineups 2 nights in a row and he’s been a monster, and relatively low owned too. Obviously that might change tonight considering he just 47 FP last night, but maybe not. Bottom line is he’s got 45-50 point upside for 4.4 freaking thousand bucks, coming into a fast paced game with the Rockets where I don’t see a lot of defense being played.

That’s it for me, good luck tonight. Tweet me @kmarkobarstool with your picks or to talk trash, whatever.
