Consider it a “Woj Bomb” for the ages!
News broke late last night that the Oklahoma City Thunder and their current superstar Russell Westbrook were inching closer to a re-negotiation of his contract that would keep the team’s new franchise player from hitting free agency next summer. After losing Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors exactly one month ago today, it was perceived that the Thunder might start gauging the market for Westbrook trades rather than potentially lose him to free agency in similar fashion. For the Thunder, losing Westbrook for nothing like they did Durant would have been devastating…
But that won’t be the case.

You can imagine Thunder fans probably woke up this morning in quite the frenzy after finding out “Russdiculous” was re-upping for at least three more years. It would have been an absolute monumental loss had they seen Durant depart only for Westbrook to follow suit. Now, with a team headlined by Westbrook and a strong supporting cast of the newly acquired Victor Oladipo, Steven Adams, Enes Kanter, and more, Thunder fans can expect another competitive season.
So what five-stages of emotions did OKC fans experience this morning? We imagine it went something like this:
1. Pure Joy
P.S. Is it any coincidence that Westbrook is signing his new deal with the Thunder, like we said, exactly one month to the day that Durant signed with the Warriors? We think not…
