Luka Doncic

Wednesday’s nine-game NBA slate is absolutely loaded with news. Here’s your cheat sheet by position:

Point Guard

Target worth paying up for: Luka Doncic ($10,900) vs. NOP (24th)

Luka comes into this one on a brief cold streak, but with the highest total on the board, this one sets up as a shootout. Look for Doncic to get right against a Pels squad that he averages over 58 DKFP against this season.

Best value: Brad Wanamaker ($3,500) at CLE (27th)

The Celtics are going to be extremely shorthanded in Cleveland, particularly on the wing. Wanamaker’s a candidate for 30-plus minutes in a terrific matchup. There’s 8-10X potential here.

Positional Strategy

The Celtics and Bulls offer the most value tonight. Marcus Smart ($7,000) is worth mentioning, and he should be the second option for the C’s. Coby White ($6,200) is also in a great spot.

Shooting Guard

Target worth paying up for: Bradley Beal ($10,600) at POR (12th)

Beal’s riding a hot streak of six straight games of over 50 DKFP, including a couple of 70-burgers in there. On a slate with enough value to roster a few studs, Beal’s a risky fade.

Best Value: Jerome Robinson ($3,100) at POR (12th)

Some of that value is on Washington’s side, where Robinson’s carved out a significant role in the rotation. Robinson’s played at least 20 minutes in four straight and saw 30 minutes (22.5 DKFP) in Sacramento on Tuesday.

Positional Strategy

Denzel Valentine ($3,800) is getting the start for the Bulls with Zach LaVine (quad) out, and he is worth a value look at SG/SF. The Cavs also have a lot of value with a lot of injuries.

Small Forward

Target worth paying up for: Jayson Tatum ($9,900) at CLE (14th)

Initial reports indicated Tatum didn’t even make the trip to Cleveland after missing Tuesday’s loss to the Nets with an illness. But now it sounds like Tatum will play against one of the worst teams in the NBA, with Boston’s three next-best scoring options all ruled out. This is a massive scoring upside game for Tatum.

Best Value: Svi Mykhailiuk ($3,900) vs. OKC (13th)

Detroit’s without tons of top bodies in the rotation, and it should stay that way against OKC. Svi’s averaging over 25 DKFP in 35 minutes per game in his last two contests. I can’t pass up that many minutes for a shooter for this cheap.

Positional Strategy

SF is a very deep position that we really want to keep looking at the BOS/CLE matchup.

Power Forward

Target worth paying up for: Christian Wood ($7,700) vs. OKC (9th)

Wood’s scored 35-plus DKFP in nine of his last 10, and he is essentially the go-to-guy for the current Detroit roster. Regardless of the game script, we should see Wood get plenty of run with even more opportunities than usual.

Best value: Grant Williams ($3,100) at CLE (11th)

Williams might have to play extra minutes on the perimeter in this one, but we know he’s going to see a significant increase in his role, just out of demand for healthy bodies. Williams should see a lot more minutes than usual, and be a more productive DKFP-per-minute play while he’s out there.

Positional Strategy

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($11,400) is worth paying up for if you have the room. There are better point-per-dollar plays, but at some point, we have to pay up for someone that could lead the slate in scoring.

Target worth paying up for: Jonas Valanciunas ($7,800) at BKN (26th)

Valanciunas has been on a tear lately, averaging just about 47 DKFP over his last three. He has one of the best center matchups you could ask for — Valanciunas dropped 45 DKFP in less than 20 minutes in his lone game against BKN this season.

Best value: Naz Reid ($5,100) vs. CHI (28th)

Reid’s been really finding his stride with Karl-Anthony Towns (wrist) out of the lineup, including 46.5 DKFP against the Pelicans last night — yet his salary drops $100. The Bulls are one of the best matchups to target centers against.

Positional Strategy

It’s probably a two center slate, but the wing values are pretty enticing. There’s really no wrong answer on how to use your UTIL on this slate.m
