Here are some players to target for tonight’s main eight-game NBA slate on DraftKings:
StudD’Angelo Russell, GSW vs. BOS, $8,000 — The role for Russell without Stephen Curry continues to be ridiculous. The Warriors are devoid of playmakers outside of DLO. He’s been pushed into having a 35.1 usage rating when Curry isn’t on the floor. As a result, Russell has at least 48 DKFP in four of his past five games.
ValueJeff Teague, MIN vs. WAS, $5,300 — After missing nearly two weeks with an illness, Teague returned last game and didn’t show any signs of rust. Despite only playing 23 minutes, Teague scored 18 points and 33.5 DKFP. With a game under his belt, his playing time figures to be extended tonight. He also draws a strong matchup against the Wizards, who allow the fifth most DKFP to point guards.
StudJames Harden, HOU vs. IND, $12,300 — It’s hard to avoid Harden at this point. He’s scored more than 70 DKFP in four of his past five games, and we need to consider the possibility he might average more than 40 points per game this season. Harden is averaging 38.2 points per game on 41.3% shooting from the field. For his career, he shoots 44.2% from the field. Once the shooting percentage normalizes, it’s not crazy to think he ends up scoring 40+ points per night.
ValueAustin Rivers, HOU vs. IND, $3,700 — The Rockets are beat up on the wing. Danuel House is doubtful to play and Eric Gordon is out for an extended period of time. With both of them out last game, Rivers played 34 minutes last game against the Clippers and was able to get the refs to call a technical foul against his dad. Without much depth, Houston is going to continue to rely on Rivers for big minutes and his price is still extremely cheap.
StudAndrew Wiggins, MIN vs. WAS, $8,300 — The breakout none of us expected. I gave up on Wiggins becoming a quality NBA player a couple years ago, but he looks like a different player this season. He always has had all the athletic gifts, and it looks like a change in role has unlocked his potential. Wiggins is playing with the ball in his hands more, and it’s leading to big uptick in fantasy production. He’s averaging 52.6 DKFP in his past five games.
Editor’s Note: Wiggins (personal) has been ruled out for tonight’s game.
ValueTerrence Ross, ORL vs. SAS, $4,000 — The Magic have been awful on offense this season. They are 29th in the league in offensive efficiency, leading to rotation changes last game. For Ross, the fallout was playing a season-high 26 minutes. We know he can generate instant offense, making him a high-upside play whenever he gets decent playing time. There is risk in rostering Ross since his playing time hasn’t been stable this season, but his ceiling makes him worth rostering as a contrarian GPP play.
StudAnthony Davis, LAL vs. SAC, $9,600 — Rib injury. Shoulder injury. Ankle injury. Davis is dealing with a long list of ailments at the moment. This typically is reason for worry with him, although he’s listed as probable to play tonight and sat out the Lakers’ most recent game. The day off should help Davis get healthier. When on the court, the injuries haven’t appeared to bother him. He’s scored at least 52 DKFP in three straight games, and the Kings are ranked 25th in defensive efficiency.
ValueDraymond Green, GSW vs. BOS, $5,300 — This has to be the cheapest salary we ever have seen for Green. Sure, the Warriors appear to be a tanking team, but that won’t stop Green from competing when he’s on the court. The biggest reason for his lack of production since coming back from a finger injury is a lack of playing time. The reason for the lack of playing time, Green was ejected in consecutive games. Even though he’s hot-headed, we can assume Green is going to be able to play games without getting tossed going forward.
StudJoel Embiid, PHI at OKC, $9,200 — Coming off a game where he was rested, Embiid should be ready to go for tonight. The last game he was active, Embiid scored 61 DKFP, and he’s averaging 55.5 DKFP this season when he comes into games with multiple days of rest. He also could benefit from playing on the road. Embiid is averaging 10.23 more DKFP when playing away from home.
ValueTyson Chandler, HOU vs. IND, $4,000 — The Rockets’ injuries extend beyond the wings. They also are dealing with an injury to Clint Capela, who has been ruled out in advance of tonight’s game. Not only did Houston rule out Capela a day in advance, the team was nice enough to let us know Chandler would be entering the starting lineup. He’s averaging nearly a fantasy point per minute, so he shouldn’t have much issue paying off his cheap salary.
