With the baseball season underway, DraftKings is taking a look at two of the best single-game fantasy baseball performances of recent history. Daily fantasy baseball is the easiest way to add excitement to the season and it doesn’t get much better than when one of your players has a memorable performance like these.

Kerry Wood
Chicago Cubs vs Houston Astros
May 5th, 1998

9 IP, 1 Hit, 0 Walks, 20 Strikeouts, 1 Win, Complete Game Shutout
Total Fantasy Points: 68.65

This was arguably the best pitching performance of the modern era, when Kerry Wood struck out 20 hitters en route to a one-hit shutout. Those who watched the game could see how dominant and untouchable Wood was. While his career ultimately did not play out as this game would have predicted, it was a game that will be remembered by baseball fans for a long time.

Left: Peter Jennings, who won $1,000,000 in DraftKings Fantasy Baseball Championship in 2014. This year, DraftKings is paying out over $300,000,000 during the baseball season.

Josh Hamilton
Texas Rangers vs Baltimore Orioles
May 8th, 2012
5 for 5, 4 Homeruns, 1 Double, 8 RBI’s, 4 Runs
Total Fantasy Points: 69

Hamilton became the latest to hit four homeruns in a single game back in 2012, the only to do so in the last 10 years. He went 5 for 5 and also added 8 RBI’s, giving him the very slight edge based on fantasy stats. We’ve also noted that Hamilton’s 4 homeruns and Wood’s 20 strikeouts both would have given fantasy owners a total of 40 points.
