Don’t miss out on tonight’s MLB contests >> DRAFT YOUR TEAM

Before the season started, not many would have guessed that the Astros and Mets would be leading their divisions, but the MLB season has already had some big surprises. DraftKings is taking a look at which MLB players have gotten off to hottest starts this season. In any given night, a big performance from a player can help win fantasy owners huge prizes, such as rayofhope, who won $50,000 on May 6th with the help of Joc Pederson’s two homeruns. You’ll want to make sure these players are on your list when building your fantasy baseball lineups.

Many were surprised When the Mets announced that the 41 year old Colon was starting Opening Day over Matt Harvey or Jacob DeGrom. While the Mets rotation as a whole has been solid, Colon’s 6-1 record with a 3.30 ERA and 0.99 WHIP has been the most surprising. He’s even added a hit and 2 RBI’s from the plate.

JOC PEDERSON: Los Angeles Dodgers, CF
He has cemented himself as the early favorite to win the NL rookie of the year award, having already hit 9 homeruns in the first month of the season for the high-powered Dodgers. Meanwhile, fellow rookie Kris Bryant still hasn’t hit one for the Cubs and neither has Phillies Rookie Odubel Herrera. These three figure to be in the mix throughout the season and are definitely guys to keep on your radar.

NELSON CRUZ: Seattle Mariners, RF
After hitting a career high 40 homeruns for the Orioles in 2014, Cruz signed a 4 year, 57 million dollar deal with the Mariners. Some wondered if the 34 year old would be able to continue his hot hitting. He’s currently hitting .344 with a league-leading 14 home runs and 27 RBI’s, and 11.8 DraftKings PPG.
