As I do every Sunday, this Targets article will cover the entire 15-game slate that will be taking place. Today has a very friendly list of pitchers to choose from, as only two will cost upwards of $10K. Let’s get you set for today, and, as always, you can get me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

Ivan Nova – PIT vs. CIN – $9,100 – Nova has done extremely well in the National League since coming over via trade. Since the second half of the season, Nova owns a .297 wOBA with a .419 SLG and a .277 OBP. Nova has also seen his strikeouts go up slightly and his walks go down as well. Nova owns a 7.3 K/9 compared to the 6.8 and a 1.42 BB/9 compared to his 1.9 in the first-half. Taking on the Reds for the third time this season, Nova has essentially shut them down in 16 innings, allowing just four runs on 12 hits with a 9:0 K:BB ratio. At just $9,100, Nova is a fine play for today.

Andrew Cashner – MIA vs. PHI – $5,400 – I think Cashner is pretty intriguing in this matchup against the Phillies today. In a recent start against the Phils he had one of his best games of the season, going 5.1 innings allowing no runs on four hits with a 9:2 K:BB ratio. Even in the relatively short start, Cashner was able to grab 30.4 fantasy points. The Phillies remain one of the worst hitting clubs in all of baseball as they rank dead last in wOBA, OBP, SLG and OPS at home this season. At $5,400, I think Cashner is worth a look.

Adrian Beltre (3B) – TEX vs. OAK – $5,100 – Beltre is on a hot streak right now, and I think he’s one of the top targets on the day. Averaging 10 FPPG over his last 10 games, Beltre has gone 13-40 with two doubles, four home runs, six RBIs and four runs scored. Today he takes on Ross Detwiler, who is allowing a .382 wOBA to right handed batters on the road.

Anthony Rizzo (1B)- CHC vs. MIL – $5,500 Oh, is that Anthony Rizzo taking on Wily Peralta today? It certainly is, and that’s an instant add to my roster. First, the BvP numbers with these two are crazy. Rizzo is 16-32 with three doubles, seven home runs, 14 RBIs and four walks. As if that wasn’t enough, Rizzo owns a .382 wOBA against righties at home with a .512 SLG and a .396 OBP.

Joey Votto (1B) – CIN vs. PIT – $5,000 – I like Ivan Nova a lot today, but I can’t overlook what Votto has done at home this season. Coming into today, Votto owns a .399 wOBA against righties with a .522 SLG and a .426 OBP.

Trea Turner (2B/OF)- WAS vs ATL – $5,600 – Turner is crazy expensive today, but he’s on an insane tear at the plate. Turner is 18-44 in his last 10 games with two doubles, five home runs, seven RBIs and six stolen bases, which averages out to 16.5 FPPG. He takes on Matt Wisler who has been great against right-handed bats, but I think this hot streak trumps Wisler’s effectiveness.

Xander Bogaerts (SS) – BOS vs. NYY – $5,000 – After going through a bit of a slump in the month of August, Bogaerts is starting to turn his season back around. Facing CC Sabathia today, Bogaerts is in a good spot, because he has been insanely good against left-handed pitching at Fenway Park. He owns a .517 wOBA with a .717 SLG.

Daniel Murphy (2B) – WAS vs. ATL – $5,300 – The Nationals’ best hitter this season hasn’t been Bryce Harper, it’s without a doubt been Daniel Murphy. Facing Matt Wisler, who has had a ton of issues against lefties, puts him in a prime matchup. Wisler has allowed a .364 wOBA to lefties at home with a .380 OBP. Murphy has a .428 wOBA on the road against righties with a .627 SLG.

Evan Longoria (3B) – TBR vs. BAL – $5,100 – A matchup against Wade Miley is certainly one you can look to exploit, with RHBs. Longoria has been swinging a hot stick as of late and this matchup comes at a perfect time. Longoria owns a .361 wOBA against lefties on the road with a .536 SLG. Meanwhile, Miley is allowing a .379 wOBA to righties at home with a .545 SLG with 13 of his 24 home runs.

Stephen Cardullo (1B/OF) – COL vs. SDP – $3,100 – Crazy value for a starting player in the Rockies lineup at Coors Field. Cardullo has only played 15 games with the big club this season, but has been off to a good start. Facing Jarred Cosart, who has allowed a .350 wOBA to righties this season, Cardullo makes for good value.

Seth Smith (OF) – SEA vs. HOU – $3,700 – Facing Doug Fister today should put Smith in a fantastic spot. Fister on the road against left-handed batters owns a .410 wOBA with a .588 SLG with 12 of his 21 total home runs allowed. Against righties at home, Smith owns a .394 wOBA with a .534 SLG and a .392 OBP.

Scooter Gennett (2B) – MIL vs. CHC – $3,100 – Gennett is awfully cheap for someone that is hitting the ball really well right now. Over his last ten games, Gennett is 11-28 with three doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has a fairly tough matchup against Kyle Hendricks today, but Gennett does own a .331 wOBA on the road against righties.
