Heaviest Pitcher Favorites

Gio Gonzalez vs. Atlanta Braves (-177) – I’ll tell you. Vegas finds a team to pick on and they become relentless! Atlanta seems to be the new target. But then again, Gonzalez is a great pitcher. His K/9 is at 9.2 with a 3.86 ERA on the year. Just be aware though, that current Braves hitters do have decent numbers against him. As a team, they’re hitting .282.

David Price vs. Kansas City Royals  (-153) – Price is coming off a complete game where he struck out only three batters and gave up five hits. His opponent? The Kansas City Royals. It will be interesting to see if Price can replicate his last start, although asking for a CG is a tall task to fill. The Royals are still the best hitting team in the majors. Tough to call this one, in my opinion.

Trevor Bauer vs. Minnesota Twins (-145) – After starting the season only giving up two runs in three starts, Bauer has slipped a bit. But he faces a Twins team that’s a pretty light hitting team. With his K/9 at 8.9, I think there’s a great chance that Bauer comes out as one of the top pitchers of the night. If he doesn’t, just forget about my article for today.

Over/Under Lines

Top Overall Game Over/Unders

L.A. Dodgers at Colorado Rockies (Coors Field) – 10.5 Over/Under – Sound the alarm! We have action at Coors Field! Brett Anderson takes on Eddie Butler in what should be an excellent night for offense. The prices will be high, but it will be worth it.

Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays (Rogers Centre) – 9 Over/Under – When it comes to the Red Sox right now, you wouldn’t be wrong to expect a lot of runs. They currently have the second to worst pitching ERA in the league at 4.86. However, guess who’s next on that list? The Blue Jays. You picking up what I’m throwing down?

Toughest Left/Right Matchups

Toughest Pitchers vs. Left Handed Batters

Cole Hamels vs. New York Mets – Hamels kicks us off today with the best ERA against lefties. His 2.18 ERA and 7.71 K/9 have been getting it done for him.

Adam Warren vs. Baltimore Orioles – Warren has been seeing against lefties against so far. He owns a 2.21 ERA against them with a nice 9.82 K/9.

Toughest Pitchers vs. Right Handed Batters

Cole Hamels vs. New York Mets- Aside from his last start, Hamels has been getting done against all hitters! Going against righties he owns a 2.53 ERA to go along with a fantastic 9.04 K/9.,

Best Left/Right Matchups

Easiest Pitchers vs. Left Handed Batters

Wade Miley vs. Toronto Blue Jays – No real surprise here, as the Red Sox have one of the worst rotations in the history of rotations. Miley owns a 5.32 ERA against lefties. His K/9 is decent at 7.77, but it’s almost impossible to trust him.

Eric Stults vs. Washington Nationals – Not much better against lefties, Stults owns a 5.29 ERA with a sad 4.72 K/9. Not really much to like here.

Easiest Pitchers vs. Right Handed Batters

Jeremy Hellickson vs. San Diego Padres – It’s a cruel world when you face righties, that is if your name is Jeremy Hellickson. His 5.68 ERA is the worst on the day.

Hector Noesi vs. Cincinnati Reds – Don’t get comfortable, Noesi, you aren’t much better! Against righties, he owns a 5.12 ERA. His K/9 is decent, at 7.29. But it’s hard to trust anyone who struggles against righties.

Hottest Hitters

Yasmani Grandal ($4100) – Grandal woke up yesterday and decided he should have a monster of a game. He did indeed. Combining it with some other numbers, he’s 12 for his last 20 with three homeruns, 10 RBIs, and six runs scored.

Russell Martin ($4800) – Martin was featured here a few days ago but he remains red hot at the plate. He’s 12 for his last 23 with four homeruns, five RBIs, and seven runs scored. He’s now the highest priced catcher for the day.

Michael Brantley ($5500) – Don’t worry about the time he missed. Brantley is seemingly on a mission to make sure he makes up for lost time. He’s 8 for his last 23 with two homeruns, seven RBIs, and three stolen bases.

Best Batter vs. Pitcher Matchups

Juan Lagares vs. Cole Hamels – Here’s one you’d never expect. Against Hamels, Lagares is hitting .440 with a 1.100 OPS! He has 11 hits in 25 at bats. Not too shabby for a less than household name.

Aaron Hill vs. James Shields  – Hill doesn’t have a great average against Shields, .286, but it’s the hits he does have that matter. Of the 10 hits he has, five of them went for extra bases and four of them are home runs. C’mon baby! We love those homers!

Mike Trout vs. Roberto Hernandez – I think it might be easier to talk about who Trout doesn’t hit well! He’s hitting .364 with three homeruns and a 1.545 OPS! He’s expensive but well worth it.

Weather Concerns

The following game have at least a 50% chance of rain today:

L.A. Dodgers at Colorado Rockies have a huge chance of thunderstorms. This one might get cancelled. Cincinnati Reds at Chicago White Sox could see a delay later in the game.

One Pitcher To Build Lineups Around

Sonny Gray vs. Seattle Mariners ($9800) – You aren’t hearing much about Gray, but you should be. He’s been a monster all year and he comes into his start with the Mariners with a 1.67 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched. With the Mariners near the bottom of the barrel in hitting, Gray should be anchoring your pitchers tonight.

Superstar Worth Paying For…

Mike Trout ($5600) – Trust me, it’s tough to fit Trout into a real competitive lineup, but if you can, more often then not, he’s going to get it done for you. As I said earlier, Trout has great numbers against Roberto Hernandez tonight and  I’ll be finding my way to getting him in my lineup.

Save Big Bucks By Drafting…

Jhonny Peralta ($3600) – Peralta can do it all against Francisco Liriano. He’s batting .326 lifetime against him with two homeruns, 10 wals and a .925 OPS. For cheap money, you can wiggle Trout and Peralta in tonight.

Good luck tonight!
