Tuesday night brings us an exciting night on DraftKings, including tonight’s 13-game slate. Let’s jump right into all the information, and, as always, you can get me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

Game Notes

Top Pitcher

Texas Rangers vs. Philadelphia Phillies – Yu Darvish ($11,300) – The Texas Rangers and Yu Darvish are the heavy favorites tonight as they take on the Phillies in Arlington. The Phillies have an implied run total of 3.4 runs, which is one of the lowest on the slate. Darvish has been great at home thus far, allowing just a .286 wOBA with a .383 SLG and a .277 OBP. The strikeouts are down a bit so far this season as he owns a 9.1 K/9, but this Phillies team is striking out at a high rate, owning a 22.9 K%. With that being said, it should be the noted that the Phillies have been hitting better as of late, owning a team .337 wOBA with a .429 SLG over the past two weeks. I don’t believe they can replicate that against Darvish tonight, but it’s worth considering seeing as three other pitchers are within $800 of Darvish.

Highest Totals

Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs – 12 projected runs – No, this game isn’t taking place at Coors Field tonight, but it does have a current total of 12 runs! Even more impressive is the fact that the Cubs are projected for seven of those. Oddly enough, Arroyo pitched his best game of the season against this Cubs team at home, scoring 25.7 fantasy points that night. However, it’s projected to be the polar opposite tonight, as Arroyo brings his 45% hard hit rate over the past three games to Wrigley Field. The Cubs are still stumbling at the plate, owning just a .306 wOBA at home his season with a .323 OBP and a .385 SLG. Arroyo has been his worst on the road, averaging a measly 2.8 fantasy points in three starts allowing 12 runs on 17 hits in 14 innings of work. It will be interesting to see how popular this Cubs stack will be as four pitchers are priced over $11,000.

Park Factors

Park Factors are ranked on a scale of 1.000. Anything above 1.000 is favorable towards the hitters. Anything below that mark favors pitchers.

  • Chase Field – New York Mets vs. Arizona Diamondbacks – Chase Field checks in as our most favorable ballpark for hitters tonight. Last season, all offensive categories were favored here.
  • Kauffman Stadium – New York Yankees vs. Kansas City Royals – Kauffman Stadium is our number two ballpark on the night. As of last season, all categories except for home runs were favored here.
  • Marlins Stadium – Houston Astros vs. Miami Marlins -The Marlins will host the Astros tonight as they earn the mark of the worst ballpark for hitters. Last season, not a single offensive category was favored here.
  • Wrigley Field – Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs – Wrigley Field is our second worst ballpark for hitters tonight. In 2016, only triples and walks were favored here.

Lineup Starters

Pitcher to Build Around

Stephen Strasburg – PIT vs. WAS – $11,400 – I feel as though Strasburg has the safest of the matchups tonight out of all the pitchers priced at the $11K mark. The Pirates are one of the worst hitting clubs in the league with a .289 team wOBA against righties with a .302 OBP and a .360 SLG. They don’t strikeout a ton, which makes not love Stras, as they own just a 19 K%. However, out of all the flaws that the starting pitchers have in their matches tonight, Strasburg has the least amount.

Heavy Hitter to Pay For

Charlie Blackmon – COL vs. MIN – $4,600 – I love Blackmon tonight as he takes on Phil Hughes in Minnesota. Hughes has struggled immensely against lefties this season, owning a .365 wOBA with a .522 SLG and a .343 OBP. Hughes is always notorious for giving up home runs as well, as he’s allowed three of his six to lefties this season. Blackmon is hardly expensive on the night at $4,600 with a favorable matchup.

Save Big by Drafting…

Josh Reddick – HOU vs. MIA – $3,800 – Tom Koehler has been having a boatload of problems with lefties this season, so Reddick is an easy pick for a cheap batter for me. Coming into tonight, Koehler owns a .479 wOBA against lefties with a .717 SLG and a six of his nine home runs allowed. Hitting near the top of the order, Reddick and his .377 wOBA against righties should be a cheap and hopefully productive pick.

Stack Em Up

Detroit Tigers vs. Baltimore Orioles (Wade Miley) – The Wade Miley we saw in the month of April is not going to be the same guy we see going forward. He’s shown signs of falling back into his old self and now faces one of the best hitting ball clubs on the road. The Tigers own a team .330 wOBA at Comerica Park with a .334 OBP and a .426 SLG. I think this stack will be low owned tonight and should still allow you to roster some high-priced pitchers.
