If you’re a fan of big prizes, tonight is the night to be playing on DraftKings. Lots of big contests taking place tonight, including the $300K Tuesday Slugfest! Last night was a bit rough on projections, but it happens and it will happen again. That’s baseball folks. Let’s make things right and win tonight! Heaviest Pitcher Favorites
A.J. Burnett vs Phildelphia Phillies (-173) – Ah yes, Vegas picking on the Phillies again. I can’t disagree though, as Burnett has been lights out this year. He’s averaging around 18 DK points a start and a 1.66 ERA in 38 innings pitched. His K/9 isn’t too shabby either at 7.3. I think you should make sure he’s in your lineup.
C.J. Wilson vs. Colorado Rockies (-169) – Wilson is quietly putting up a solid 2015 for the Angels. He’s got a tough assignment tonight facing the Rockies, but a little birdie told me Vegas likes his chances. One advantage is the fact the game is in LA not Colorado. Regardless, Colorado is one of the best hitting teams in the majors.
Alfredo Simon vs. Minnesota Twins (-150) – All of these pitchers that are favored tonight are extremely salary friendly. So you got that going for you. Simon has started to regress a bit after pitching like an ace his first few starts. He has a good chance to regain thst form tonight against the less than stellar Twins. For $5000, you could get tremendous value from Simon.
Top Overall Game Over/Unders
Kansas City Royals vs. Texas Rangers(Ballpark at Arlington) – 8.5 Over/Under – Second night in a row where these two are the slated for the most amount of runs. Again, the best and the worst offenses face off. And once again, two average starting pitchers going in this one. Edinson Volquez and Nick Martinez will do their best to get your hitters to score runs.
Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles (Camden Yards) – 8.5 Over/Under – Deja vu times two. Once again, this game is slated for a lot of runs. Mark Buehrle and Chris Tillman take the hill for this one. How long they last….ehhhh. I really like the Baltimore offense in this one.
Toughest Left/Right Matchups
Toughest Pitchers vs. Left Handed Batters
James Paxton vs. San Diego Padres – Paxton may have a ERA in the five range on the surface, but he’s been having success against lefties. He owns a 1.46 ERA against them with an impressive 10.22 K/9.
Jake Arrieta vs. New York Mets – Arrieta is next on the list coming into today with a 2.18 ERA. Like Paxton, his K/9 is impressive at 10.25.
Toughest Pitchers vs. Right Handed Batters
Mike Fiers vs. Chicago White Sox- Looks as if no one is particularly dominating righties today, as Fiers is first with a 2.06 ERA. The all important K/9 is at 9.61.
Lance Lynn vs. Cleveland Indians – Lynn goes into tonight’s matchups against the Indians with a 2.57 ERA against righties. His K/9 checks in at 8.76.
Best Left/Right Matchups
Easiest Pitchers vs. Left Handed Batters
Mike Bolsinger vs. Miami Marlins – Bolsinger, I’ve honestly never even heard of you! But apparently, you have a 7.04 ERA against lefties. Not a good first impression, Michael.
Justin Masterson vs. Oakland A’s – The Red Sox rotation is still one of the worst in baseball. Masterson adds to those awful numbers as they own with a 6.68 ERA against lefties. Hard to trust any of those Red Sox right now.
Easiest Pitchers vs. Right Handed Batters
Anthony Desclafani vs. Atlanta Braves –Well, last time Desclafani pitched, he was on this list twice. Progress? Against righties, he owns a 5.71 ERA.
Justin Masterson vs. Oakland A’s – Sigh. C’mon man, you’re pitching in the majors! His 5.00 ERA against righties is terrible. He’s got to straighten this out.
Carlos Peguero ($3400) – Who? It doesn’t matter, you don’t need to know who he is. All you need to know is that he’s 7 for his last 21 with four homeruns, seven RBIs and six runs scored. Oh, and he only costs you $3400.
Torii Hunter ($5100) – Well, it’s about time someone from the Twins started doing something. Hunter is 10 for his last 24 with two homeruns, six RBIs and eight runs scored.
Best Batter vs. Pitcher Matchups
Delmon Young vs. Mark Buehrle – If stacking a team is your thing, might not be a bad idea to stack the Orioles. Young should be part of that stack. He’s see a lot of Buehrle in his career and the numbers favor Young. He’s 22-56 lifetime with four homeruns, and a 1.084 OPS.
Jacoby Ellsbury vs. Chris Archer – When Archer faces Ellsbury, he doesn’t usually retire him. Ellsbury is hitting an incredible .667 against him, which comes out to 10 hits in 15 at bats. His on-base percentage checks in at .722. Good lord, why isn’t he on your roster yet?
Andre Ethier vs. Dan Haren -Ethier enjoys his time against Haren. He’s hitting .420 against him with two homeruns, and a 1.082 OPS. Ethier would be a nice cheap addition to your lineup tonight. He certainly won’t be owned much.
Nada man. Nothing.
One Pitcher To Build Lineups Around
A.J. Burnett($8200) – I’m going to side with Vegas on this one and give my seal of approval to Burnett tonight. He’s been pitching so well and the Philies are…well….not doing much of anything. They don’t strike out as much as a team I’d normally tell you to go against, but I don’t really see any other matchups that I really like.
Superstar Worth Paying For…
Chris Davis ($4500) – I’m liking Davis a lot today as he’s matched up against Mark Buehrle. Davis has a .320 average against him and I personally think the Orioles will have their way with him. Davis is always a threat to go deep and a good chance that he’ll have base runners on when he comes up.
Save Big Bucks By Drafting…
Carlos Peguero ($3400) – Might as well ride the hot streak while you can. What’s even more enticing about Peguero, is that his overall numbers aren’t that impressive, so he may continue to be under owned. As I always say, at this price, you can’t expect much, so anything extra is a bonus.
