MLB Arcade Mode brings us a seven-game slate tonight. If you aren’t familiar with Arcade Mode, you can brush up on all the happenings by going here. Once you’re acclimated with the rules, we can dive into the information for tonight’s slate. As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

Pitchers

Robbie Ray – ARI vs. PIT – $19,500 – Ray is the most expensive pitcher on this slate, beating out Luis Severino by $3,000. He’s set to take on the Pirates for the second time this season, and in the first outing, he posted a disappointing -4.2 fantasy points. Tonight’s game will take place on the road for Ray, where he’s been his best. Ray is averaging 62.4 FPPG in five road starts compared to his 23.3 at home. Ray sports a .198 wOBA on the road with a .188 SLG and a K/9 of 11.6. Facing one of the worst hitting clubs against lefties, Ray should find much more success against the Pirates in Pittsburgh tonight.

Vince Velasquez – PHI vs. MIA – $14,000 – I’ll admit, it’s hard to find good matchups for pitchers on this slate. Velasquez doesn’t have the strongest matchup against the Marlins, but he intrigues me as a salary saver. He’s been better on the road this season, posting a .313 wOBA with a .388 SLG and a K/9 of 7.1 while averaging 22.1 FPPG. He scored 26 fantasy points in his first matchup against this Marlins club back in April, which I would be more than ok with if he could come close to that today.

Hitters

Nelson Cruz  – SEA vs. COL – $8,500 – Cruz is playing at Coors Field tonight and faces a left-handed pitcher. Cue the “you know what to do” crowd. His road numbers against lefties on the year thus far are still a bit underwhelming, but he’s always crushed in these matchups, posting a .393 wOBA with a .557 SLG and a .374 OBP. Tyler Anderson is currently allowing a .378 wOBA to righties at home.

Cody Bellinger – LAD vs. STL – $6,500 – Bellinger is extremely cheap tonight as he’s in the midst of posting 26.2 FPPG over his last 10 games. He’ll take on Michael Wacha tonight, who is allowing a .335 wOBA to lefties at home with a .449 SLG. Bellinger has been great on the road (although I would hardly call Busch Stadium a park upgrade) posting a .481 wOBA against righties with a .828 SLG.

Nolan Arenado – COL vs. SEA – $9,000 – If you haven’t heard, Arenado has completely smashed left-handed pitching at Coors Field this season, making him one of my top plays for tonight. He’s sporting a .506 wOBA with a .815 SLG and three home runs in these matchups. He’s expensive, but this type of matchup has been his strong point in 2017.

Kendrys Morales – TOR vs. CIN – $7,000 – Morales is a cheap option that has plenty of pop. He’s averaging 22.5 FPPG in 22 home games with four of his nine home runs. The Blue Jays are projected at 5.8 runs tonight, which surprisingly could still see them be lower owned than normal, due to the game at Coors Field tonight.

JT Riddle – MIA vs. PHI – $4,000 – As always, I try to throw one obscure hitter in the mix that you may have never considered. Granted, I do like Velasquez tonight, but Riddle intrigues me with his super small price tag. Over his last 10 games, Riddle is averaging 28.9 FPPG with two home runs and nine RBI. Velasquez has struggled more against lefties than righties but has done fairly well against them on the road, posting a .330 wOBA with a .410 SLG. Riddle is so cheap, however, that he’ll most certainly help save salary and can produce, evidenced by his numbers as of late.
