WATCH: ARCADE MODE HITTER TO CONSIDER

MLB Arcade Mode will bring us a short, five-game slate for tonight. If you aren’t familiar with Arcade Mode, you can brush up on all the happening by going here. Once you’re acclimated with the rules, we can dive into the information for tonight’s slate. As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

Pitchers

Jordan Montgomery – NYY vs. KC – $12,500 – Tonight is going to be a tough night for pitching, especially here in Arcade Mode. None of the teams playing tonight strikeout at an exceptionally high rate, so we may be forced to get a bit creative here. Montgomery pops out to me due to his matchup and his decent 8.5 K/9. Montgomery has been solid on the road with a .290 wOBA and a .356 SLG, so on a night with very thin pitching options, Montgomery may just slide into your lone pitching spot.

Hector Velazquez – BOS vs. OAK – $9,000 – We all know that pitching is going to most likely be tough tonight, right? So why not take a shot and roster someone who is making their major league debut? Velazquez has been fantastic in Triple-A this season, pitching 29 innings and allowing just six runs (five earned) on 18 hits with a 20:5 K:BB ratio. He’ll face an A’s team that currently owns a .312 wOBA against righties with a 23.2 K%, which ranks as the sixth-highest in the league. Velazquez is only $9K tonight, which would allow you to stack up on some high profile bats.

Hitters

Kyle Seager – SEA vs. CWS – $7,000 – I think we will see a LOT of rosters with two Mariners’ hitters on them tonight, and if you’re considering that strategy, Seager should be one of them. He’s been crushing right-handed pitching at home this season, owning a .420 wOBA with a .580 SLG and a .424 OBP. Seager has only hit four home runs this season, but three of them have come at home against a right-handed pitcher.

Corey Seager – LAD vs. MIA – $6,000 – We could load up on the Seager brothers tonight with Kyle and Corey. Corey is more apt to grab that elusive stolen base/home run combo that we so badly sought after when we play this mode. Volquez has his struggles against lefties, owning a .386 wOBA against them on the road with two of his four home runs allowed.

Joc Pederson – LAD vs. MIA – $6,000 – Another cheaper option for tonight, Pederson will be taking on Volquez at Dodger Stadium tonight. Volquez has had his issues with lefties this season, as I just mentioned above with Seager. Pederson slotted in the leadoff spot always makes him more valuable in Arcade Mode and with such a low salary hit to boot.

Mookie Betts – BOS vs. OAK – $9,000 – Arcade Mode is made for players like Betts, hence his high salary on a nightly basis. Besides that, Betts has been crushing right-handed pitchers on the road, sporting a .484 wOBA with a .426 OBP and a .746 SLG. Gray has allowed three home runs on the season thus far, but all of them came on the road, as he’s made just one home start. Nonetheless, if you can afford him, Betts is always the type of dynamic player you want on your roster.

Khris Davis – OAK vs. BOS – $7,000 – I like to end my article with a bit of an obscure pick for Arcade Mode, but I don’t know just how obscure Davis actually is. Granted, he’s facing a rookie pitcher tonight, so we don’t have any idea how he’ll perform. With that being said, Davis is always a massive threat to go deep, evidenced by his 11 home runs on the season with six of those coming at home.
