WATCH: ARCADE MODE HITTER TO CONSIDER TRAVIS SHAW

MLB Arcade Mode will bring us a five-game slate tonight, so let’s dive into the information. As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

Pitchers

J.A. Happ – TOR vs. BAL – $15,500 – Happ comes in as the second most expensive pitcher on the night, giving you a massive $6K savings from Chris Archer. While Archer is facing a weaker offense, Happ has the better strikeout potential, which makes him my top pick for tonight. He’ll face an Orioles team that owns a 25.8 K% against lefties, which is the fourth highest in the league. Happ has faced this Orioles team twice already this season and sports a perfect 12:0 K:BB ratio.

Jameson Taillon – PIT vs. TB – $14,000 – Taillon has a fairly tough matchup against the Rays tonight, but again, I’m intrigued by his strikeout potential. As we’ve reported time and time again, the Rays are one of the top teams to target for strikeouts, as they own a 24.8 K% against righties. Taillon sports an 8.1 K/9 on the season, so the strikeouts certainly can come.

Hitters

Justin Smoak – TOR vs. BAL – $8,000 – Smoak, and the rest of the Blue Jays, have a favorable matchup against Ubaldo Jimenez tonight. Smoak being a switch hitter, will face Jimenez from the left side, where Jimenez has allowed a .435 wOBA with a .673 SLG and 11 of his 16 home runs. Smoak sports a .371 wOBA at home against righties with eight of his 21 home runs.

Andrew Benintendi – BOS vs. MIN – $7,500 – Benintendi has been slumping a bit as of late, averaging just 20 Arcade Mode points over his last 10 games. However, that won’t stop me from getting him on my roster, as he’ll face off against Kyle Gibson tonight. Against lefties, Gibson owns a .399 wOBA with a .553 SLG and six of 11 total home runs allowed. With Benintendi seeing a drop in salary to $7,500, he makes for an excellent play this evening.

Ryan Braun – MIL vs. CIN – $8,000 – Braun has snuck his way back into the Brewers’ lineup after spending almost a month on the shelf. He picked a perfect time to do so, as he’ll face Homer Bailey tonight. Aside from his past success against Bailey (12/37 with two home runs and four doubles), Braun has a .401 wOBA against righties on the road with a .636 SLG and a .342 OBP.

Brian Dozier – MIN vs. BOS – $7,500 – I’m not a huge fan of David Price tonight, but his low salary may attract plenty of play tonight, and I don’t blame any of you for doing so. One trouble spot I can anticipate is Brian Dozier. It’s no secret that he’s been crushing lefties this season to the tune of a .413 wOBA on the road with a .581 SLG and two home runs. If Price blows up again on the mound, Dozier could be a good reason why.
