MLB Arcade Mode will bring us a four-game slate tonight. If you aren’t familiar with Arcade Mode, you can brush up on all the knowledge you need by going here. Once you’re acclimated with the rules, we can dive into the information for tonight’s slate. As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.
Luis Severino – NYY vs. LAA – $17,500 – Severino is the most expensive pitcher on this slate tonight, running $3,500 more than Jake Arrieta. He faces an Angels club with the lowest projected run total of 3.6 runs on the evening. Severino has been great at home, posting a .262 wOBA, a .350 SLG and a 9.7 K/9. The Angels have tagged the Yankees for eight runs over the first two games of this series, but they still own one of the worst road wOBAs in the league at .294. Severino will be a very popular pick on the evening.
Jake Arrieta – CHC vs. MIA – $14,000 – It only took until the end of June, but I think I’m finally back to trusting Arrieta. He’s been mostly productive on the mound as of late, averaging 32.5 fantasy points over his last five games with a 31:11 K: BB ratio. He’s faced this Marlins team at Wrigley already this season, lasting six innings and allowing two runs on two hits. He’s not going to be that sneaky tonight seeing that he’s the second most expensive pitcher, but since we can only choose one, his ownership could be lower than you think.
Anthony Rizzo – CHC vs. MIA – $10,000 – My favorite hitter of the night is Anthony Rizzo taking on Jeff Locke. These two have met many times before and Rizzo is 11/29 with five home runs, 12 RBI, and three doubles. Aside from the BVP numbers, Rizzo is posting an absurd .491 wOBA in the month of June and an overall .415 wOBA against lefties.
Brett Gardner – NYY vs. LAA – $7,500 – With the Yankees facing Jesse Chavez, I think it’s obvious that people will gravitate toward the likes of Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez. I have absolutely no issue with that whatsoever, but I’m intrigued with Gardner tonight. Chavez has been atrocious on the road this season and lefties have been getting their punches in as well. Chavez owns a .370 wOBA against lefties on the road with a .538 SLG and four of his 10 road home runs allowed. Gardner will be very low owned and could be a difference maker this evening.
Matt Kemp – ATL vs. SFG – $7,000 – Matt Cain on the road is not the Matt Cain at AT&T Park. Owner of a .399 road wOBA, Cain will be matched up with the Atlanta Braves. Against righties on the road, Cain is allowing a .372 wOBA with a .511 SLG with four of his nine home runs allowed. Hitting in the heart of the Braves’ order, Kemp is certainly primed to do some damage tonight.
Mark Trumbo – BAL vs. CLE – $7,000 – I’m not as big of a fan of this game tonight as many other are, so to be safe, I’m going to roll with Trumbo. He’s facing off against Mike Clevinger, who’s only made seven starts this season with five home runs. He’s been great against righties this year, but last year they were crushing him. Trumbo has six of his ten home runs at home this year and has hit two over his last ten games. He’s a worthy flier at $7K tonight in what is being projected as the highest run total.
Chase Headley – NYY vs. LAA – $5,000 – Finally, to wrap this article up, I always like to showcase someone I think will be low owned but can grab you some sneaky points. Per Arcade Mode rules, you can only roster two players from the same team. Do you honestly think Headley is at the top of most DraftKings players’ lists? He’s been swinging the bat well lately, averaging 25.9 fantasy points over his last ten games with two home runs and two doubles. With how poor Chavez has pitched on the road, I think Headley could be a sneak pick tonight and help boost you up the standings. Coming into this matchup, Headley owns a .394 wOBA against righties at home with a .475 SLG and a .438 OBP.
