MLB Arcade Mode will bring us a four-game slate tonight, so let’s dive into the information for tonight’s slate. As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.
Jordan Montgomery – NYY vs. LAA – $12,500 – Montgomery checks in with a friendly $12,500 salary tonight as he gets set to take on the Angels. Last night we talked about how awful this Angels club is on the road before they tagged Michael Pineda and the Yankees bullpen for eight runs. With that performance last night, they jump up a few spots in the league, but still sport a .294 wOBA and a .366 SLG on the road. Montgomery is averaging 37 Arcade Mode points in six home starts this season with a 9.9 K/9. I’m still on board with targeting against the Angels on the road and Montgomery at $12,500 makes that decision easy.
Carlos Carrasco – CLE vs. BAL – $16,500 – On a normal basis, I’d be a bit wary of targeting against the Orioles at home, but they’ve been downright dreadful lately. The Orioles continue to tumble in home numbers, ranking 20th in wOBA at .323 with a .431 SLG and a .314 OBP. They’re also striking out at a decent clip with a 22.1 K%. Carrasco has pitched some of his best games this season on the road and is averaging 43.7 Arcade Mode points in seven road starts with a .242 wOBA and a .281 SLG. If you’re ok with paying up at pitcher tonight, Carrasco is a great candidate to do it with.
Gary Sanchez – NYY vs. LAA – $10,000 – I love this spot for the Yankees tonight as they take on Ricky Nolasco. He’s allowed 21 home runs in just 14 starts with seven of those coming on the road against righties. Aside from that, Sanchez has been crushing the ball, averaging a whopping 48.2 Arcade Mode points over his last 10 games with six home runs, 18 RBI and three doubles. Until he starts cooling off, his salary doesn’t matter at this point.
Edwin Encarnacion – CLE vs. BAL – $11,500 – Encarnacion is the most expensive hitter on this slate, but he’s got a great matchup tonight against Kevin Gausman. Encarnacion is another hot bat that’s averaging 47.3 Arcade Mode points over his last 10 games with five home runs, 13 RBI and two doubles. Gausman is having trouble making it deep into games and is posting a .396 wOBA at home against right-handed batters.
Odubel Herrera – PHI vs. STL – $5,000 – With two extremely expensive bats, I think it’s time we save you some salary here. Herrera could be someone that goes overlooked tonight, despite matching up against Michael Wacha in Philly. Wacha has been crushed on the road to the tune of a .418 wOBA and a .581 SLG against lefties. Wacha has only allowed eight home runs on the year, but three of those have come on the road against lefties. Herrera could be a sneaky play tonight.
Buster Posey – SFG vs. NYM – $9,000 – You barely hear about how well of a season Buster Posey is having because, well, he’s on the Giants. He faces off against Sean Newcomb tonight, who’s only made two starts at the major league level, so we don’t have much use rattling off stats in such a small sample size. We can, however, talk about Posey on the road against lefties. In these matchups, Posey is sporting a .439 wOBA with a .632 SLG with three of his nine home runs.
