MLB Arcade Mode will bring us a five-game slate tonight, so let’s dive into the information. As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

Pitchers

Jacob deGrom – NYM vs. STL – $22,500 – deGrom is the most expensive pitcher on this five-game slate, running you $3,500 more than Zack Greinke. deGrom will take on the Cardinals for the second time this season after pitching a lackluster seven innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with a 5:0 K:BB ratio. With that being said, I’m a fan tonight with how well he’s pitched at Citi Field. deGrom owns a .257 wOBA at home with a .315 SLG and an 11.4 K/9. The Cardinals don’t strike out a ton, owning just a 21.2 K%, but I think deGrom has a better chance of ending up with a higher strikeout total than Greinke tonight.

Gerrit Cole – PIT vs. MIL – $15,000 – Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of this matchup for Cole. His struggles against lefties don’t exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy when you consider Travis Shaw and Eric Thames bat from that side. In Arcade Mode, however, strikeouts are king and Cole certainly has that potential. He’s faced this club twice already and owns an 8.3 K/9 against them in 14 innings. The Brewers are currently first in the league in K% against righties with a 25.2 K%, so the upside for Cole is most certainly here.

Hitters

Travis Shaw – MIL vs. PIT – $9,000 – Shaw is one of the reasons I’m on the fence about using Gerrit Cole tonight. As I just mentioned, Cole has struggled against lefties to the tune of a .355 wOBA with a .535 SLG and 13 of his 20 home runs allowed. Shaw is one of baseball’s hottest hitters, averaging 36.2 Arcade Mode points over his last 10 games with four home runs, nine RBI and three doubles. If you’re not going the route of Cole, Shaw is my top hitter on this slate.

Rougned Odor – TEX vs. BAL – $4,000 – I’m amazed just how cheap Odor is tonight. Not only will his $4,000 salary barely put a dent in your salary cap, but his matchup tonight is a favorable one. Kevin Gausman is allowing a .386 wOBA against lefties at home with a .510 SLG and six of his 18 total home runs allowed. Odor enters this game with 17 bombs on the season and is an incredibly cheap way to get some power in your lineup.

Manny Machado – BAL vs. TEX – $8,000 – The Orioles own the highest projected run total of all the games playing tonight as they get set to take on Martin Perez. As expected, righties have been giving him plenty of issues, making Machado a personal favorite of mine tonight. He’s been swinging the bat better lately, averaging 32.8 Arcade Mode points over his last 10 games with two home runs, seven RBI and three doubles. Against lefties at home, Machado is sporting a .360 wOBA with a .512 SLG and a .340 OBP.

Michael Conforto – NYM vs. STL – $8,500 – St. Louis starter Mike Leake has been wildly inconsistent as of late. After a stellar eight inning outing against the Nationals allowing just one run, Leake followed it up with 10 runs in 7.2 innings against the Marlins and Pirates. He’s allowing a 50% hard hit rate over these last three games, which is quite the jump from his 28% average on the season. I like Conforto at home against righties where he’s posting a .440 wOBA with a .620 SLG with nine of his 16 home runs.
