Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Big time stuff last night, not every day you can make multiple lineups and not cash with either.
Blog picks – big time bomb from Cespedes! That one felt good. What’s up with Donaldson though? What’s up with the Blue Jays? Henry Owens, are you fucking kidding me? You’re supposed to be the best offense in baseball, you’re at Fenway Park with a 10+ total
on the game, and you put up 2 dud games in a row? BOOOOO.
Anyway, short slate tonight, and half the games have weather concerns, soooo should be a fun one.
-There’s Arrieta then there’s everyone else right now. Hottest pitcher in the game, who just followed up a no-hitter with a 34 point performance. And now he’s got the Phillies. Everybody knows my fear of taking pitchers against the Phillies – they ALWAYS come out of nowhere to put up like 6 runs on a stud pitcher when you least expect it. But I can’t not recommend Arrieta right now.
–David Price is David Price – as good as the Yankees offense is and even though he struggles against them, he’s always worth a look, and he’s 2K cheaper than Arrieta which is a nice bonus.
–Salazar gets the Tigers again after getting lit up by them last time out…feeling a bounceback? Can’t deny the K upside.
-Gotta love what Tolo has been doing lately, and his price is still way down – just remember, he doesn’t strike anyone out, and the Braves don’t strike out.
-Need a good value pitcher to consider if I’m going Arrieta…who do we think? Simon? Peralta? Morgan against the Cubs is pretty much off the table…
Also be careful – it’s raining everywhere tonight, and that Cubs game doesn’t look great.
OF Michael Brantley $4.9K
With the pitching options tonight I don’t know if I’ll have much money left over for hitters, but if I go above the 4.5K range, Brantley’s my main guy. Cleveland is the #2 offense on the board, and while I don’t really trust them as much as Vegas does, you
can’t argue with Brantley’s matchup and his upside. A price in the 5’s I’d probably stay away, but this is still cheap enough that I think he’s worth it if you have the cash.
1B/3B Miggy $4.4K
Miggy hasn’t had a Miggy-like game in a while now…doesn’t have more than 10 points in his entire 10 game log as a matter of fact. But a rule I like to live by is if he ever drops down to 4.4 freaking K, to plug him in. You just know he can explode at any point,
and this price point for one of the best players in baseball?
2B/SS Javy Baez $3.9K
I don’t know a lot about this kid – all I know is that Big Cat tweets about him all the time for striking out 90 times in a row then blasting a mammoth home run. Now THAT’S my kind of value play. Not like you lose any points for strike outs, but you do get a bunch for homers, and the Cubs are the top offense to target tonight by far. Vegas has Adam Morgan’s lefty ass getting shellacked- and while Fowler and Kris Bryant are your clear top plays here – I think I’m gonna mess around and take a shot on this Baez
kid. Short slate, gotta take a risk somewhere.
