Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
First of all I want to start off with a brief reminder to actually read the words in these blogs. Like the ones that I type. Like these for example, from yesterday:
Michael Pineda $9.3K
I’ll tell you right now I don’t have a great feeling about this. I mean on paper it all matches up – a guy coming off a gem, who has 16K-in-7-innings upside, facing off against the worst hitting team basically ever. Should be a no brainer, but call it a gut thing – sometimes everything is just TOO perfect. I will be using him however just because he’s the clear top option with a price tag of 9.3K (which is basically downright offensive) and with the bats I want to be able to use – just consider yourself warned.
Can’t tell you how many “Thanks for Pineda loser” tweets I got. If you read that write-up for a player and then still pick him that’s on you. Man up and take responsibility for yourself.
Now that that’s out of the way (sorry for yelling, it hurt me more than it hurt you)…man, last night was weird, huh? Yeah Pineda sucked…but so did a LOT of pitchers. Lot of negative numbers out there. All depended on who you had batting. I had 4 lineups, had Pineda in 3 of them, and cashed in 3 of them. Strange strange night.
And a Phillies stack lineup I did to hedge my “Pineda will get blown up” gut feeling –
Dozier and McCann came through for us big time – Trout and Puig disappointed. But like I said yesterday I’ll take 50%.
Now on to tonight…
Carlos Martinez $8.3K
Screw pitchers, man. I’m over it. Here’s a cheap guy that I hope does well. Whatever.
OF AJ Pollock $4.9K
Umm yeah you’re gonna want a piece of this game at Coors…or should I say, like 8 pieces. 11 total, with 2 crappy pitchers on the bump, in that nice and thin Colorado air…should be a run party. Look Goldschmidt is the obvious overall top option here, but he’s $6K. That’s insane. I mean it’s most likely going to pay off, but if it doesn’t, you basically just crippled your whole lineup. So I’m going to drop down to Pollock who is much more affordable at 4.9K, and capable of a huge game in his own right.
OF Brett Gardner $4.7K
The dude is ON FIRE..like, legitimately on fire…and still saw his price drop big time over night. For a matchup with somebody called Sean O’Sullivan, at home, with a team total that is right up there with both the Rockies and the Dbacks, I’m looking to roll with some Yankees tonight.
2B Kolten Wong $4.3K
Vegas like the Cards to cruise tonight and put up some runs against Urena, so who better to grab than the leadoff guy (who also can go deep). I’ve had a pretty good track record using Wong in my lineups and at 4.3K I like him a lot tonight, especially if you’re trying to go contrarian away from Coors.
VALUE PLAY Brandon Belt $3.7K
Real good price on Belt here, who may be having an up and down season, but has definite home run upside for only 3.7K. Let’s hope the Giants buck the trend and actually give Mad Bum some support tonight, for once.
Good luck tonight, make sure to hit me up @kmarkobarstool with all your picks/tips/pearls of wisdom for tonight’s slate.
