Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Nothing special in my lineups last night. Could have had something good going with my optimal lineup…
But DeGrom made sure that didn’t happen. Those pesky freaking Phillies man. I’ve been saying it all season – they will ruin your lineup and not think twice about it.
My 2nd backup lineup fared a little better
But still. Been a while since I took down a big payout.
I was on point saying the Reds were a great offense to target, and Votto came through for us and justified his salary with a massive home run. Gardner disappointed though…guess the guy hates his birthday? And our value play Ender Inciarte didn’t do much either, luckily his salary wasn’t much of a risk. I did nail CarGo being too good to be true though, coming in with a 0 point dud.
-Who’s our top guy tonight? Tough call. I’d have to say Arrieta based on name brand alone, but the Giants are tough on righties and the price is pretty high.
–Keuchel and Syndergaard are next up in that price point, but both seem super risky to spend $11K-ish on. The Yankees at home aren’t exactly a team you want to make a habit of picking on, and we all saw what the Phillies did to a pitcher better than Thor last night.
-Gotta love Strasburg at home against the Padres, but you know the deal with Stras lately…right when you expect him to pitch a 40 point gem he blows up in your face.
-Mid range guys to keep an eye on: Nate Karns and Charlie Morton. Oh and Wade Miley against the White Sox too if you’re feeling brave.
-Potential high risk high reward value plays – Tomlin and Lamb against the ice cold Dodgers.
1B/3B Miggy $5.2K
If I’m spending up on a bat today, Miggy is the first guy I’m honing in on. Guy is just absolutely en fuego and at 5.2K is still kind of a discount, considering Josh Donaldson is checking in at 6.4K (!!) today and there are 5 other guys priced higher than him. Don’t get me wrong, Donaldson and Joey Bats are great big money guys tonight to target against Holland, but I think I’m rolling with Miggy.
OF Curtis Granderson $4.5K
You could call stacking Mets “chasing points” if you want, but what reason would you have not to? They hit literally a half mile of home runs last night.
49 runs in their last 4 games. They’re hot, they’re clicking, they’re firing on all cylinders. Annnnnd they have a matchup with Jerome Williams. I could pick anyone in the starting lineup tonight and feel good about it but I’ll feature Granderson (Cespedes is obviously a great play as well but he’s over 5K).
OF Kole Calhoun $4.3K
Been avoiding the Angels like the plague lately but I like the spot for Kole tonight, and I especially like the price. He’s having a weird season full of high highs and really low lows, so it’s not without risk, but 4.3K against Simon is a good spot to slot him in and hope he can crank one out.
2B/SS Wilmer Flores $3.5K
Ok had to do another Met because I just saw this price. 3.5K is crazy town for what Wilmer has been doing since the infamous crying on the field fake trade. Double digit points in 5 straight and 2 home runs last night. Yes he probably won’t put up 41 again, but getting 10+ from a 3.5K guy is just what we need to build our lineups around and squeeze some good pitching in.
