Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Put up a pretty good score last night –
Those Coors games, man. Always solid gold.
Blog picks were not great – only Miggy hit double digits, and Dozier was a total dud. Shocked about that one. Usually I have a pretty good read on Dozier, and he totally let me down…he let us all down.
Let’s jump into tonight.
–Dallas Keuchel I think might be your top dog tonight. I can’t really get a read on the Red Sox, they’ve been super hot lately and don’t strike out a ton, so that might affect Kluber’s point total tonight. Or it might not. But Keuchel against the Rays seems a little safer. Who knows though, the Rays have been known to come out of nowhere and mash people when you least expect it.
–Syndergaard looked totally out of it his last start and couldn’t find his groove at all – not a good place to be in when you have to make your next start against the O’s in Camden Yards.
–Jaime Garcia, where’d you come from? Been on fire lately. Could be a nice play getting the Giants at home
-I like Lester a lot tonight for a hot Cubs team playing at home.
–Strasburg…hmmm…I won’t lie, I’m intrigued…yeah I never play pitchers at Coors, and yeah he will definitely give up some bombs…but that kind of strikeout upside at only 9.1K is definitely worth some consideration, if you can stomach it.
OF Mike Trout $4.6K
I don’t care if Mike Trout has 2 points total over his last 4 games. I don’t care if he has 2 points total for his past 50. He’s the best player in baseball and he’s sitting at 4.6K with a matchup against Shark, who I just checked, has not broken FIVE points in his last 3 starts. Would I pay over 5K for a player as cold as this, no. But I’m perfectly fine spending this amount of money and banking on the very good chance that tonight is the night he breaks out of his mini-slump.
SS Troy Tulowitzki $4.6K
The Jays righties against Adam Morgan are definitely somewhere you want to get some exposure tonight. Edwin, Joey Bats, and Donaldson are all incredible plays, but I’m going to put my main focus on Tulo. Not a ton of good shortstop options so a guy checking in this cheap with a great shot of going deep tonight is where I’m going to start my lineups.
1B/3B Ryan Zimmerman $4.3K
Finally broke out of his slump last night, but what else do you except at Coors Field. Pretty good price for a guy who fills two infield positions, and a pretty good matchup with a lefty in that Colorado air. I think Goldschmidt, Hosmer and Votto are all primo 1B plays tonight, and Donaldson is by far the best 3B, but I think Zimmerman is a good way to be a little semi-contrarian and get some cheap exposure to Coors in your lineup.
OF Jayson Werth $3.3K
Everyone in the starting lineup for the Nats is in play tonight – but they’re all priced accordingly for a game at Coors. That is, everyone except Jayson Werth. Yeah I know he’s been injured and slumping basically the entire season…but $3.3K for the leadoff hitter of a team facing a lefty at Coors Field with the highest total on the board? That’s value you can’t really pass up on no matter how bad the guy stinks. And it’s not like he put up a dud last night either – 16 points is a real solid game. Don’t know if he’ll go deep, but hitting double digits should be pretty easy and that’s all you can ask for your 3.3K guy.
That’s it for me, hit me up @kmarkobarstool with your thoughts on the games tonight.
