Between Trevor Story and Jeremy Hazelbaker, I can’t decide who has the best narrative right now. Both guys are crushing the ball and have SLG% at or over 1. I have to think true regression is in their near future, but as of right now they are still on fire. Let’s take a look at the 5 hitters that may continue their hot streak tonight on this 14 game slate.
Jeremy Hazelbaker (LHB) (STL vs. CIN) – $3,700
Hazelbaker had another decent outing yesterday, putting up 2 hits, knocking in 2 RBIs and jacking a homer. The minor league lifer (until now) has started the season with a .484 OPB and a SLG% of 1. He faces righty Tim Melville tonight, who will start his second major league game. Melville had a .933 OPS against LHB in his first outing. Hazelbaker has a .563 handedness wOBA against Melville, and there is no reason for him to go cold on the evening.
Jose Altuve (RHB) (HOU vs. DET) – $4,900
Altuve has the ability to put up 20+ DKFP on a nightly basis. Yesterday he put up a homer and added another hit to the mix in 4 ABs. Mike Pelfrey (tonight’s opponent) gave up 6 runs during his last outing and had a .716 OPS against RHB last season. Altuve has a .332 wOBA against righties and has a .661 OPS against Pelfrey lifetime. I like Altuve for his daily consistency, but the price and the handedness matchup have me looking elsewhere on the evening.

Josh Donaldson (RHB) (TOR vs. BOS) – $5,000
Mr. Consistency faltered a little two games ago with only 7 DKFP, but he righted the ship yesterday with a 2 hit, 1 homer and 3 RBI performance. Donaldson has already faced Porcello this season and had a decent 2 hit performance. Porcello is a righty that had a .751 OPS against RHB last season. Donaldson has a handedness wOBA of .387 and an ISO of .256. He also has a .783 OPS against Porcello lifetime. If I can afford him, I am all for playing him.
Ian Kinsler (RHB) (DET vs. HOU) – $3,800
Kinsler has recently caught fire, and he doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon. He has registered a hit in his last 3 games and has a .361 BA in 2016. Dallas Keuchel hasn’t looked like last year’s AL CY Young winner so far this season. He has a 3.55 ERA and a 1.5 WHIP on the season. Keuchel also had a .606 OPS against RHB last season. Kinsler has a .367 handedness wOBA and a .830 OPS against Keuchel. I have a feeling he will continue to ride the hot streak this evening.
Mark Trumbo (RHB) (BAL vs. TEX) – $4,100
Trumbo put up a whopping 30 DKFP against the Red Sox three games ago. Due to him being one of my Orioles, he carries a special place in my heart. He is batting .389 on the season with a SLG% of .667. Perez has two starts on the season and has a 3.65 ERA. He is a lefty that has an .812 OPS against RHB. I love Trumbo’s handedness wOBA of .369 and the blazing hot team he plays for (Go O’s) have me rolling him out again tonight.
