You can’t quite have a better start to your career than Gary Sanchez has had these past few weeks.
The rookie 23-year old catcher for the new-look and youth oriented New York Yankees took home AL Player of the Week honors after hitting .523 with four home runs, six RBI, four runs scored over his past six games.
To date, Sanchez is up to .385, 8 HR – which are a club record for the most in a player’s first 19 games – and 15 RBIs. He’s not only doing it at the plate either, as Sanchez has been extremely dominant behind the dish as well. “The Kraken” has thrown out a plethora of would-be base stealers, including Mike Trout over the weekend in Anaheim. For a Yankee team actively searching for a new identity, it looks like Sanchez might be it.
Just take a look at these two absolute moon shots he hit last night in Seattle:
His on-field production aside, just look at what Sanchez has done in fantasy terms:
Over that six game span (including last night) he’s totaled 123 FPTS – with as high as 35 points in a single game. Wowsa.
