Fantasy Baseball Stacks: Top Offenses to Target for May 16

Here are my top fantasy baseball stacks for Wednesday’s condensed five-game MLB main slate:

Trevor Cahill is having a nice season for Oakland on the surface, but he’s pitched just 24 innings and all seven runs allowed have come during 11 innings pitched away from home. The Red Sox are the only team on the slate projected for more than five runs and will face the RHP at Fenway Park. Although it’s been coming up short in the win department, Boston’s been scoring runs of late. This is a matchup the Red Sox should be able to exploit.

Players to Consider

Mookie Betts ($5,700)
J.D. Martinez ($5,000)
Andrew Benintendi ($4,300)
Xander Bogaerts ($4,100)
Hanley Ramirez ($3,900)
Eduardo Nunez ($3,400)

With mostly low-scoring games on this slate, the Cubs visiting the Braves is the other place to target. Chicago has a 4.8 run projection against RHP Brandon McCarthy, who has a 5.58 ERA and is getting hit hard from both sides of the plate. Although you see names below, I think all eight bats the Cubs put out there are in play, so you can find some value here.

Players to Consider

Kris Bryant ($5,000)
Anthony Rizzo ($4,800)
Javier Baez ($4,500)
Willson Contreras ($4,300)
Kyle Schwarber ($4,100)

The Braves also are projected for 4.8 runs, but have a slightly more difficult matchup against Tyler Chatwood. The RHP has been solid this season, so this is more about targeting a hot Atlanta offense. Look for the Braves to keep rolling at home, but if you want to go with a contrarian stack on a slate like this, that makes sense too, particularly with a handful of aces on the mound with high salaries.

Players to Consider

Freddie Freeman ($5,200)
Ozzie Albies ($5,100)
Nick Markakis ($4,400)
Ronald Acuna, Jr. ($4,200)
Ender Inciarte ($4,000)
