When I set out to do this post, the objective was to get UFC fighters to weigh in with their picks and/or predictions for the main and co-main events of the UFC 200 card. As I got the final results in from my mass texting, I sat down to put together the results. I had barely typed the last word, hadn’t even had a chance to look it over and edit it, when my phone started buzzing and flashing like some advanced, new age version of the old Hasbro Operation game.
Bad news: Jon Jones has been pulled from the card due to a potential USADA violation. Well, that presented a pretty big monkey wrench to my plans for the Fighter Picks. After mulling it over, I decided to go ahead and post the original, with the picks for Jones/Cormier included, just so everyone can see who their favorite fighters were choosing to win.
So, without any further fanfare, here is the tally:
|Michael Bisping||Cormier via Decision||Hunt vis KO|
|Tony Ferguson||Jones via Round 3 TKO||Lesnar via Decision|
|Chris Camozzi||Jones via Decision||Hunt via KO|
|Derrick Lewis||Cormier via Descision||Hunt via Round 2 TKO|
|James Krause||Jones via Decision||Hunt via KO|
- As noted, the Cormier/Jones fight is no longer taking place
- KO = Knock Out
- TKO = Technical Knock Out

“Jones and Cormier are two of my favorites, and one of the most entertaining rivalries in MMA. Back in Cormier’s Strikeforce days, I pegged him as the guy to move to 205 and finally beat Jones. I picked DC in their first fight against the champ, and while Cormier eventually went on and won the belt by default, I’ve got the interim belt holder coming back to win his title this time. I think the fight looks not too different than the first one, with Jones coming away with the decision.
I’m just as excited as the rest of us about Brock’s return, although I don’t think they could have chosen a worse opponent for his chances of success. Being in the middle of a fight camp myself, I’m reminded of just how much time we devote to technique, and I just don’t see Brock as someone who has the ability or willingness to do have done enough to win in this fight, physical specimen or not. Historically, he’s had enormous problems when getting hit, and that’s exactly what the Super Samoan is going to do. I’ve got Hunt by KO/TKO.”
