Wow, Champions league continues today with 8 more matches to choose players from, but first, lets take a look at what happened yesterday. GOALS. That’s what happened yesterday, three teams scored 6 or more goals and we had a single player (Luiz Adriano) score 5 goals on his own on his way to 64.5 fantasy points. Will we see anybody else threaten to come close today? Let’s find out.

Goalkeepers

Moya, Atletico Madrid – There won’t be too many clean sheets today, several of the teams going today have good attacking units and most of the favorites are on the road, I could have listed Iker Casillas here in this spot, but I like Moya better as Atletico is facing a weaker Malmo team at home. Malmo is coming off a disappointing loss at home in the local league and are in somewhat poor form. They won’t have many opportunities to beat Moya, but regardless, Moya is the biggest bet for a clean sheet bonus and the win. His price however will prove an obstacle tho as he comes in at $4,700 and the most expensive keeper on the day.

Danijel Subasic, Monaco – The French team enters this team having two clean sheets in Europe thus far, and while they haven’t been dominant in the domestic league, they’ve kept their games close, with most games ending with just a single goal scored or none. They are coming off a 2-0 win against Evian Thonon Gaillard in the French Ligue 1 and will play a Benfica side that has scored only once in Europe so far. Subasic is the “best of the rest” in terms of goalkeepers I can somewhat trust today. The remainder, I suspect will concede at least a single goal if not more.

Others: If you choose to steer away from these two options, Gianluigi Buffon – Juventus, Iker Casillas – Real Madrid, Fernando Muslera – Galatasaray.

Defenders

Juanfran and Cristian Ansaldi – Atletico Madrid, should be the “chalk” option on defense for the day, and I suspect these two will be heavily owned in all GPPs on Draftkings. Between them they provide a total of approximately 8 crosses a game. Couple that with the high likelihood of the clean sheet bonus and these two might be must plays on the defensive end.

Tarik Camdal, Galatasaray – If Camdal starts for Galatasaray he will be a steal at his price of $2,000. Playing at home against a team that has struggled in the Bundesliga, Camdal is an offensive type player that tends to charge up the left flank for his club and country. In the Turkish Super Lig he averages 2 key passes a game and about 5 crosses a game. He’s also one of the main free kick takers for his side. He is facing a team that, while leading their group in Europe at 6 points, is currently in terrible form in the Bundesliga and I suspect that Galatasaray might handle them today.

Others: Kieran Gibbs – Arsenal, Marcelo – Real Madrid, Criscito – Zenit St Petersburg

Midfielders

James Rodriguez, Real Madrid – The talented midfielder tends to fly under the radar behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the Real Madrid attack. However, Rodriguez actually provides decent attacks on his own. On the season in La Liga, James has provided 6 crosses per game as well as 2 corners a game. He is also second on the team in shots taken behind Ronaldo, and on a team that relies on a heavy attack, I suspect he will have a hand in any goals scored today as so far this season he has 3 assists. If you choose to save some money and go with a different Madrid midfielder, I would choose Toni Kroos or Luka Modric depending on salary.

Koke, Atletico Madrid – Staying with the Spanish midfield, I like Koke today as a cheaper option at midfield. Last time out against a tough Juventus team Koke provided 8 crosses and had one shot taken for 10 fantasy points. Malmo is an easier opponent than the Italians and you can suspect that some of those crosses might find a header that ends up in the back of the net this game. Koke will pay off his salary if he gets an assist or at least a ton of crosses, but the odds are in his favor to do just that.

Others: Paul Pogba – Juventus, Marcelinho – Ludogorets, Raheem Sterling – Liverpool, Wesley Sneijder – Galatasaray

Forwards

Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid – The debate will rage on for years on whether him or Messi are the better forwards in the world. Messi is the more talented Maradona type player and Ronaldo is the more hawk-like striker who can score in any situation and on anybody. Get Ronaldo in your lineup today and you’re guaranteed at least 4-5 shots on target in an attempt to score. Ronaldo is chasing some records today so he will be extra aggressive. To top it off, Ronaldo is the penalty kick taker for Madrid, so any miss queues on the defense from Liverpool will see Ronaldo get a penalty try.

Hueng-Min Son, Bayer Leverkusen – I could have gone with other forwards for Leverkusen as this team plays with an attacking diamond with Kiessling up front and Son and Bellarabi supporting the flanks. However, Son is cheaper than Kiessling and he is average 17.3 fantasy points in the four champions league games his side has played so far. He’s coming off a 7 shot, 1 goal and 1 assist game. Son is my cheap option at forward that I will use to try to fit in Ronaldo and other top players from this slate.

Others: Danny Welbeck – Arsenal, Aleksandar Mitrovic – Anderlecht, Hulk – Zenit St. Petersburg, Carlos Tevez – Juventus, Konstantinos Mitroglou – Olympiacos
