We’re in for another exciting weekend of Major League Soccer action on DraftKings, as several teams can clinch a berth in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs this weekend. There is a lot of squad rotation this time of year, so it is vital that you check starting lineups to ensure you aren’t stuck with a goose egg in your lineup. As always, I will be posting starting lineups on Twitter (@DraftKicks) as they become available – usually an hour before kickoff. Here are some players I am building my lineups around this weekend:

Saturday’s Contests

$1.5K MLS Striker – $3 entry

$100 MLS Quarter Arcade [Just $0.25!]

Goalkeeper

Sean Johnson – $4,000 – Chicago Fire – The majority of games on the board tonight are very evenly matched. I like Sean Johnson and the Chicago Fire to take care of business at home against Orlando City, who will be without playmaker Kaká.

Josh Saunders – $5,000 – New York City FC – Saunders stood on his head keeping Sebastian Giovinco and Toronto FC off the scoreboard on Wednesday night, racking up 24 DraftKings points along the way. The league leading shot-stopper will be called into duty once more tonight in a pivotal game against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Others to Consider – David Bingham (San Jose Earthquakes, $4,500), Bill Hamid (D.C. United; $5,300), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake; $4,700)

Defender

Harrison Afful – $4,400 – Columbus Crew – Afful has 6+ crosses in four straight games and turned in the game-winning assist last weekend. He’s underpriced considering his consistent fantasy point output from crosses alone.

Chris Tierney  – $6,400 – New England Revolution Tierney dons the highest salary at the defender position due to his huge upside from his involvement in the attack. He went off for 31 points just two games ago and will be fresh coming into tonight after being rested midweek.

Angelino – $5,000 – New York City FC – Angelino, though listed as a Defender, started in the midfield for NYCFC two games ago and subbed on midweek in a more attacking role. If he’s starting in the midfield again he’s well worth a look playing closer to goal.

Others to Consider – Joevin Jones (Chicago Fire; $4,800), Sean Franklin (D.C. United; $4,300), Jeff Larentowicz (Chicago Fire; $4,500)

Midfielder

Lee Nguyen – $9,700 – New England Revolution  Nguyen provided another helper in New England’s midweek win over the New York Red Bulls. He now has six assists over his last three games.

Javier Morales – $9,000 – Real Salt Lake  The Argentine is averaging 19 Fantasy PPG across his last three outings, with two goals and one assist. He’s picking points through every offensive category and should be active in an entertaining game with the LA Galaxy tonight.

Ignacio Piatti – $8,500 – Montreal Impact – Along with several other starters, Piatti was rested midweek due to their congested schedule. Though they’re on the bubble, the Impact are in a good position with so many games in hand. Piatti averaged 13 FPPG in his previous five and I expect him to step it up tonight in a vital game for Montreal.

Others to Consider – Federico Higuain (Columbus Crew; $8,500), Pedro Morales (Vancouver Whitecaps; $8,000), Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution; $6,900)

Forward

Fabian Espindola – $9,700 – D.C. United Espindola returned from injury last weekend, putting in a full 90 minute shift and posting a respectable 8 points on DraftKings. The crafty Argentine should have his way at home with a Columbus Crew back line that hasn’t kept a clean sheet in over two months.

Chris Wondolowski – $9,500 – San Jose Earthquakes – The U.S. Men’s National Team forward has at least three shots in each of his last six outings. Wondo scored his 14th goal of the season in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Montreal and has a good chance to improve on that total at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.

Kei Kamara – $11,100 – Columbus Crew – Kamara bagged a brace in the Crew’s 2-1 win at Philadelphia last weekend, giving him 20 goals on the season. He’s now three goals ahead of Sebastian Giovinco in the Golden Boot race and is obviously a threat to score anytime he’s on the field.

Others to Consider – Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy; $11,300), Didier Drogba (Montreal Impact; $9,400), Clint Dempsey/Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders; $10,200/$10,400)

Flex Appeal

Cristian Techera – $5,600 – Vancouver Whitecaps – Techera has four goals in four games and is available to draft at a mid-tier salary. “The Bug” is averaging 25 FPPG over his last three home games.

David Accam – $7,300 – Chicago Fire – Accem has a goal in back-to-back games and has hit double-digits fantasy points in four consecutive outings. He hung 22 points on Orlando City just three games ago and could be even more involved with Kennedy Igboananike ($7,500) listed as Questionable with an ankle sprain.
