With seven MLS games on the Saturday slate, and action kicking off at 5:00PM EST, let’s jump right into today’s targets. Watch for starting lineups as they are released, with teams rotating their squad regularly while they deal with the busy schedule, along with injuries and suspension. I will be posting lineups on Twitter (@FantasySoccerFC) as soon as they are released – usually an hour before kickoff.

Saturday’s Contests

$800 MLS Striker – $3 entry

Goalkeeper

Chris Konopka – $5,300 – Toronto FC – Konopka is coming off a 20 point performance, in which he had five saves to earn a Clean Sheet in a win over Portland. In just his fourth start of the season, it was the third game he’s posted 10 or more DraftKings points. A home game against San Jose  on Saturday presents Konopka with another opportunity to shine.

Bill Hamid – $5,300 – D.C. United – United will be out for revenge after dropping a 1-0 result just two weeks ago to the same Union team they welcome to RFK tonight. Hamid kept D.C. in the game with 10 saves in a midweek 1-0 loss at Portland, and I expect him to lead United to victory tonight.

Others to Consider – David Ousted (Vancouver Whitecaps; $4,600),  David Bingham (San Jose Earthquakes; $3,700), Tally Hall (Orlando City SC; $3,900), Clint Irwin (Colorado Rapids; $5,100)

Defender

Taylor Kemp – $4,000 – D.C. United – Prior to a quiet midweek game in Portland, the D.C. outside back logged four or more crosses in six straight games. Playing at home against an inconsistent Union attack, Kemp has a good opportunity to post a clean sheet to go along with any crossing point he earns.

Joevin Jones – $4,800 – Chicago Fire  – The attack-minded wide defender was quiet in his last outing, but i’m targeting him to get back on track today at home against Montreal Impact. Jones has a shot in each of his last three games, and swung in a whopping 12 crosses in his last home game.

Luke Boden – $3,500 – Orlando City SC – Boden has shown glimpses of his crossing ability since taking over as the starting left back for Orlando. He had four crosses in his last outing, and will be counted to attack the wing even more today with Brek Shea suspended.

Others to Consider – Jordan Harvey (Vancouver Whitecaps; $3,600), Jordan Stewart (San Jose Earthquakes; $3,100), Chris Klute (Columbus Crew; $3,300)

Midfielder

Pedro Morales – $8,200 – Vancouver Whitecaps  After consecutive 11+ point DraftKings performances, Morales was given some rest over the weekend – logging just 13 minutes in a 1-0 loss at Colorado. I expect Vancouver will field their best XI at home against Salt Lake, and i’m counting on the explosive Chilean playmaker to pickup where he left off.

Kaka – $11,700 – Orlando City SC – Kaka will likely be a popular fade today, considering he’s the most expensive player on the board. I’m targeting the Orlando City vs. Columbus Crew game to be full of fantasy points, and I expect Kaka to make his mark at home. The Brazilian has a goal in consecutive outings now, and looks to be rounding into fine form after a slow start to his MLS career.

Federico Higuain – $9,100 – Columbus Crew The Argentine playmaker has 11+ DK points in three of his last four and has a good opportunity to surpass the 10 point threshold against the expansion Orlando City SC this evening.

Others to Consider – Matias Perez Garcia (San Jose Earthquakes; $7,000), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC; $6,700), Javier Morales (Real Salt Lake; $7,800)

Forward

Sebastian Giovinco – $10,400 – Toronto FC – The Italian maestro has posted double digit fantasy points in every appearance this season. He’s apparently dealing with a heel bruise, but I don’t expect that to keep the top overall option on the board out on Saturday. It’s worth monitoring leading up until TFC kicks off,  but for now i’m planning on rolling Giovinco out with confidence again.

Octavio Rivero – $9,100 – Vancouver Whitecaps – While he hasn’t found net in two consecutive games now, Rivero was still able to shoot his way to 10 DraftKings points in his last game. He leads the league in shots and is tied with MLS leading goal scorer Kei Kamara in shots on target. A game at home against a depleted RSL back line could give Rivero the boost he needs to get back on the scoresheet.

Kei Kamara – $10,600 – Columbus Crew – Kamara will look to better his league leading goal tally tonight at Orlando. He’s put up games of 29 and 34 points in two of his last three outings, highlighting the upside you’re getting when you pay up for the big Crew target man.

Others to Consider –  Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes; $10,200), David Villa (New York City FC; $9,800), Kekuta Manneh (Vancouver Whitecaps; $5,000)

Flex Appeal

Will Johnson  – $3,000 – Portland Timbers – The Timbers captain logged 84 minutes in his first game since suffering a broken leg last season. He’s a deep lying midfielder, but upside lies in the opportunities he sees from free kicks and corner kicks. At $3,000 – Johnson is a bargain bin target that will allow you to pair him with the likes of Kaka, Giovinco or Kamara.

Kevin Doyle – $4,500 – Colorado Rapids – The Irish international forward made his MLS debut last week, picking up a respectable six DraftKings points along the way. Colorado brought Doyle in to score goals, so it’s only a matter of time before he gets going. A home game tonight against a Portland defense that played midweek is worth targeting Doyle at just $4,500.
