A full Saturday night MLS slate is upon us, and DraftKings has over $5K in guaranteed cash prizes on the MLS board. There are numerous absences due to Gold Cup call-ups, along with a handful of players who are questionable with lingering injuries. Be sure to watch for starting lineups and adjust your lineup if need be.  As always, I will be posting starting lineups on Twitter (@FantasySoccerFC) as they become available – usually an hour before kickoff. Here are the players I am targeting for Saturday’s contests:

Saturday’s Contests

$1.5K MLS Striker – $3 entry

$400 MLS Step Over

Goalkeeper

Luis Robles – $5,700 – New York Red Bulls – In a rematch of the 2014 Eastern Conference Championship, the Red Bulls welcome a New England Revolution side that has lost four straight on the road. Over that four-game stretch the Revs have scored just two goals while being held scoreless twice. New York will be missing some key defenders tonight, however, I fully expect Robles and the Red Bulls to hand New England their fifth straight road loss.

Dan Kennedy – $4,800 – FC Dallas – The FCD shot-stopper has kept back-to-back Clean Sheets and now goes on the road to face an Orlando City team missing their two best attacking options in Kaka and Cyle Larin. I’m looking for Dallas to keep their hot streak rolling with another win against the expansion team tonight.

Others to Consider – Clint Irwin (Colorado Rapids; $4,900), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire; $3,400), Tally Hall (Orlando City SC; $3,900)

Defender

Tyrone Mears – $6,000 – Seattle Sounders –  The right back showed why he’s the highest priced defender on the board, with an absolute laser to score the game winning goal against D.C. United last weekend.  Mears has double-digit points in two straight games, and will continue to be more active in the Sounders attack with Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins out-of-action.

Chris Tierney – $5,700 – New England Revolution – Tierney has double-digit fantasy point upside every time he takes the field. He’s on corner kicks and set-pieces, which makes him a near automatic play with the amount of crossing opportunities he sees. I’m not high on the Revs pitching a clean sheet, but am banking on some fantasy points through Tierney’s involvement in the Revs attack.

Sheanon Williams – $3,500 – Philadelphia Union Prior to catching a breather in Philadelphia’s last game, which saw Williams log just nine minutes of action, the outside back was a vital part of the Union attack. He’s just two games removed from an 18-point outburst, where he had an assist on seven crosses.

Others to Consider – Jack Jewsbury (Portland Timbers; $3,200), Ambroise Oyongo (Montreal Impact; $4,000), Connor Lade (New York Red Bulls; $2,900)

Midfielder

Federico Higuain – $9,000 – Columbus Crew – Higuain has hit double-digit fantasy points in four of his last five games, and will be pulling the strings for the Crew against a Montreal team that has allowed two or more goals in three consecutive outings.

Mauro Diaz – $8,700 – FC Dallas – Diaz exploded for 25 DK points last weekend, after a 15 point game prior to that. He has one goal and two assists in his last two games, and is in the zone leading up to a game against a depleted Orlando City team.

Javier Morales – $7,200 – Real Salt Lake – One of the best creative midfielders in the league comes at a very nice discount tonight. He should be in top form tonight against rivals Colorado Rapids, who Morales amassed nine points against just over a month ago – without scoring a goal or adding an assist.

Others to Consider – Ignacio Piatti (Montreal Impact; $7,800), Cristian Maidana (Philadelphia Union; $7,000), Diego Valeri (Portland Timbers; $8,500)

Forward

Bradley Wright-Phillips – $11,400 – New York Red Bulls BWP has a combined 11 shots in his last two games, striking for a goal and an assist to post an average of 18 FPPG in those two. After seeing FC Dallas hang three goals on the struggling Revs last weekend, I like Wright-Phillips to threaten the Revolution back-line from the get-go.

Fabian Castillo – $11,200 – FC Dallas – Castillo is simply on fire – with a goal in three straight games now. He’s put up 14 or more fantasy points over that stretch, and has a nice matchup today against a shorthanded Orlando City squad.

Kei Kamara – $10,000 – Columbus Crew – Kamara leads the league in goals scored (12) but is contributing more than just goals. Two assists helped him to a 22-point fantasy day last weekend, the second time in the last three that he’s gone for over 20 points. Facing a shaky Impact defense, i’m projecting Kamara will continue to shine.

Others to Consider – Kennedy Igboananike (Chicago Fire $5,400), Jack McInerney (Montreal Impact; $6,900), Kevin Doyle (Colorado Rapids, $5,600)

Flex Appeal

C.J. Sapong – $6,400 – Philadelphia Union – Sapong is on an amazing run of form with a goal or an assist in five consecutive games now. He’s up against a Portland defense that gave up five goals in their last road game, and should see his fair share of chances to contribute to the scoresheet.

Luis Solignac – $5,000 – Colorado Rapids – The Argentine is knocking-at-the-door, and while he didn’t score last week, he did add an assist on his way to a 16-point night. The goals will come, and at just $5K, taking Solignac will free up some much needed salary cap for your lineup.
